People quitting in games

OK, sorry about this, but I just need to have a little rant. Why do people quit games when they're half way through?! I understand that some people get DCed, but you can normally tell when that is the case. I've just had two mansion games in a row finish prematurely because the other person disappeared, which meant that I couldn't get many credits because of the abundance of pink ghosts (which reminds me, why do the coffins keep pushing out pink ghosts when there is no pink team there?). I see no advantage to them, as they will just forfeit any credits they've already earned, and it's really, really irritating for those left in the game.

OK, that's my mini rant, I feel a bit better now. Thank you! :goodvibes

Hello,

I agree:)! Personally I don't know why ppl leave in the middle of the game, I understand if some get DC which I'm ok with but some ppl leave bc they are losing and that's sad for the other player who is trying to get his(her) daily credits. Sadly I don't play Mansion to much anymore for this case and sense it doesn't give double credits it is difficult to get the credits sense ppl leave so much :guilty:

Ah and the ghost coming out when the player isn't there it's strange fact of the game..I guess:rolleyes:

But hey what can we do there is good ppl who play for credits and fun and there is other that play to look better then others just bc they won a game or didn't let the other player win:confused3

Oh and if you would like some games later today feel free to PM I'm always up for a game of Mansion :wizard:

Join the club. Pink and I always want to scream when someone quits against us. We suggested that in pirates they not allow them to exit. Or pehaps if they do exit, log them out of VMK completely or penalty credits.

I have only done this twice since I started back up on VMK- once in Pirates and once in Checkers. and it has been an accident because my 4 year old climbed in my lap and clicked the X to close the window.
So, my apologies to those who may have been stuck with me doing that, but I promise- its not on purpose!

Thank you for the support guys, and sorry to hear it happens to you lot as well. I do understand that people get DCed and that accidents happen (like Rainbows said), and I have no problems with them. Oh well, I guess I'll just carry on playing and be thankful that there are so many nice people out there who more than make up for the others.

Oh, and if anyone wants a game with someone who won't quit (unless I DC or similar), I'm SoupDragon, so feel free to track me down (if you can find me ;)).

I played some HM games before and twice, I got people who decided to quit at the beginning of the second round (I need to precise I don't know if they dc or what so ever but it still means that at the second round they were not present anymore in the game ..) .. In the past, that would have bothered me now I just don't care.

I think you may be underestimating the number of people who DC out of HM. I don't DC often, but HM is my single most likely place for it to happen.

I don't think people are as likely to quit HM anyway because they get the credits for any ghosts they do catch, even if it's a low number. In POTC you can actually get zero credits (believe me I know)!

I don't like people leaving during games either.

but there are days where I dc or get an error message every other game of mansion. so it my not really be their fault.

:sad1: I have done this a few times..
I just have to leave sometimes..
I apologize to those who played against me when I left the game..

Okay, just thought I'd let you know, some people get dc'ed a lot. Me, for example, it's rare for me to get through without crashing, and if I do, it's laggy and slow. Honestly, I've given up haunted mansion, because I can never have any fun on it anymore.

Vmk

That bugs me, too! I had so many people do that to me the last time I played on a double credit day. I was ahead each time and I am lousy at the HM game so it was a big deal for me to be the least bit ahead of the other player. Then, they quit. Maybe they would have pulled ahead of me in the second game....who knows!? But it really spoils it for me when they don't hang in there and they are not a good sport that way.

Penalty credits = 21 credits to play :)

I would think that more often than not, the reason the other player quits is not because they get disconnected.

I'm speaking from my perspective here: We play with and against children, and some of them are as young as 6 I would believe. What many many children don't grasp is that in the Haunted Mansion game (and other mini-games), winning is not actually the goal. You can lose in HM and still rack in the sweet sweet credits, but to many kids, that isn't good enough.

I've had many many people quit on me. And in my limited memory, I can't think of a SINGLE time someone quit while they were "ahead."

So what should VMK do about the HM game? Nothing. Leave it alone and work on different and exciting games for future releases. I think the HM game is quite adequate and frustrating at the same time. ;)

It should be more like 200 or more

But I do understand disconnects, that happens to me :)

I talking about people that see you are about to win and they quit just before you bring your flag back to base.

I've seen many more people quit in the last couple of months. I wonder if membership has increased. There seems to be a lot of newbies lately.

I know of many members who look at the pins of the person to see if they look experienced before they will play them. I've seen a lot of "guests" and newbies booted from HM.

I don't do that because everyone needs practice. I think when the credits were double people were more willing to play, even if it meant people quit. Now with the combination of single play and so many magical big ticket items the pressure is on to make credits.

It has taken some fun out of the games. People are more aggressive and impatient with novice players.

So watch out on the pirate dock today....bad player walking. :)

I don't really think this is always the case about the pins. :) There are a lot of ppl who wear pins that go with the month/theme or clothing they wear as opposed to showing off what they have. Me, I wear all my magic and ppl assume I am great at a game. That is not true. I only play friendly pirates bc I stink at it.

My mules do not wear pins and many of them are named "guest" still bc VMK won't approve my names. ;) I am still just as good at mansion on the guest as I am on TheAlphaMouse.

I do have to agree that it takes the fun out of games. I have had ppl quit mansion while playing against me and then see them in the lobby telling their friend they quit bc they are losing.

I have been known to quit pirates, but that is not bc I am losing. It is bc the ppl in there are getting angry and saying things they should not, and I do not want to be a part of that. ;)

I completely understand about DCing, I used to get DCed every second or third game I played. It's a lot better now that they've re-jigged it (don't know what they did, but it has helped), but I still get DCed every now and then. I also understand people who have to dash off unexpectedly, because the phone goes, there is someone at the door, the cat's just been sick, dinner is ready etc etc; I've had to do that once or twice myself.

I know you can't always tell whether it was a DC or an intentional quit, I guess I'm just fed up with bad sports in general. I just wish people could be good sports, play nicely with each other and have fun regardless of whether they win a particular mini game or not. *Sigh* in a perfect world....

Anyway, thanks all for letting me vent, and I hope no one thought I was having a go at them! :goodvibes
