Stay home when you are sick!!! I really have to vent about this. This week I have encountered two people who really should not have been around others. One was at a afterschool activity my daughter was doing, another mother who clearly was sneezing, coughing, stuffy, chest congested, sinuses, you name it she had it was sitting next to me hacking and blowing away. I asked her why she didnt stay home and let dad or sis bring her daughter and she said...well I just like to watch her. Oh, that sounds like a great excuse to get everyone here sick. Then this morning I went to the grocery store. The cashier was checking me out. Another employee walked up to her and said, "so how are you feeling" to which she replied "awful, and now my husband has it too, coughing and sore throat" and then she proceeded to cough all over my reciept and hand it to me. Ewwwww. I understand people who dont want to miss work because they dont get paid, I dont agree with it but I understand it. I just dont think this was the case.

Sorry had to get this off my chest. This irritates me so much. I was sick 2 weeks ago with a respiratory infection and its taken this long to feel better. While I was sick I stayed home and did not do anything. I didnt even attempt to pick my daughter up from school, my husband came home early and did that for me.

Dont even get me started about kids coming to school sick...:sad2::mad:

I agree.

I understand people who HAVE to go to work a little sick and sending kids to school with a cold (not a fever or vomiting, just a cold). But people who are sick and go to public places they don't have to (such as the mom at your daughter's afterschool event) drive me nuts. If you are sick, please don't go out and get the rest of us sick... stay home as much as humanly possible and let your body get the rest it needs.

Yesterday a co-worker sat in her office and coughed and made other horrible noises all day. We were literally washing ourselves in hand sanitizer. She did not come in today so I assume she went to the State Fair and to the movies.

My son and I went shopping yesterday. I actually left the store after an employee came over to the rack we were looking through and coughed all over us and the clothes. No attempt to cover her mouth or move away from our direction. She looked quite sick too.

To be fair though I have a heightened sense with all this flu talk lately. I do wish people that are obviously sick would stay home.

There is no way to stay sanitized at the State Fair. But I'd think if you eat enough of the fried food on a stick, you could scare some of the germs away. ;) Poor Big Tex.....He's a sitting duck. :lmao:

BIG TEX STRICKEN WITH SWINE FLU! :rotfl2:

oh I hate that too!!!
someone coughed on my head the other day, while I was getting milk out of the fridge at the store, they were right behind me being impatient and taller than me, and i felt it hit my head.
then they continued to hack and cough.

I am going to vent about people venting about staying home with the flu, soon! :rotfl2:

We already have like two of these threads going on!

My DH is guilty of this.:sad2:

It's great that he's not a slacker and is a loyal employee, but he's gone to work with fever and feeling miserable with sneezing/cough. He says no one will get sick from him because he has his own office. When I tell him that even when he uses a tissue, germs still probably get on his fingers and everything he touches gets infected. He comes into contact with the workers, but he says he doesn't sneeze on them.
I don't know how he's able to get his work done (CAD-CAM Designer), but he does.

I tell my kids, be a hard worker like daddy, but don't be inconsiderate like daddy!

I wish schools would stop awarding "Perfect Attendance" rewards to kids. Maybe they'll stay home instead.

I agree. Kids showing up clearly too sick to function due to pressure of perfect attendance is a terrible shame. I have a friend that perfect attendance for her kids seems like the most important goal her children can achieve. The school nurse once sent her son home three days in a row and she just kept sending him back, fever and all.:sad2:

Gross! :scared1:

Oh, this bugs me. I am appalled at the number of adults I see in public who don't cover their mouth/nose when they cough or sneeze. It's like they open wide and hack away. Blech!

I agree. My kids have never made perfect attendance ever.

I have a nephew who is in med school now and he has never missed one day of school ever. Not one. His mom thought they would make a big deal when he graduated from high school but apparently the school didnt mention a thing or give him any type of award. We all still laugh at her on that one. :rotfl:

My DBF has a cough, congestion, sore throat, stuffy nose, etc. If you saw him at the store you would probably be mad he was out too. But ya know what? He has a sinus infection and isn't contagious. Don't be too quick to judge those sicklies out there. Some of them might not even be a threat to your heath.

This year our school did away with perfect attendance awards just for this very reason. If your kid is sick, keep him/her home.

Oh, I understand that not everyone who seems sick is contagious. Both of my kids have cough variant asthma... if they get a respiratory virus, they can still be coughing weeks after the original virus is completely out of their system.

I wish my husband could stay home when he's sick. He doesn't really have much of an option, other than getting up at 0530 to go to sick call, where all they'll do is give him motrin and maybe give him a day of quarters (permission to stay home) if he's lucky. He will go in sick and if it's bad enough, his supe might let him leave early. Some people don't have the option of staying home.

In addition to perfect attendance awards...

I wish they would take away the incentive to not miss so much school. The students are exempt from exams if they have an A, but only if they have missed less than 4 days of school. For a B, they have to have only missed 2. SO...regardless of the good grades, if they miss more than four days, they are forced to take the exam that most of their friends are getting out of.

This was the main reason around here that the kids want to go back to school ASAP...or not miss...even if they are sick or just getting over the flu.

Co-worker came in with pink eye today. We are all using Purell like crazy. STOP TOUCHING THINGS OTHERS WILL TOUCH! AHHH! At least it's not potentially deadly...if someone comes in here with swine flu I'm sure my boss will send them home. Either that or I'll leave. NOt chancing my asthmatic lungs because of someone so inconsiderate.
