Has this been annoying anyone else lately as much as me? :lmao:

I was pushed past my limit this afternoon, I went out to get the mail and saw my childless neighbor with a stroller. Obviously I said 'hi' to be courteous, then looked into the stroller to find her Yorkie! The dog was all dressed up, with toys, a blanket, and what from under the little outfit looked like a diaper. Last but not least, it had on a sunhat and sunglasses! I was about ready to throw up because this woman, like so many, really thought this was a child.

I totally respect someone's decision to not have children, not everyone wants that responsibility of caring for a human being, but these people are treating their Shih-Tzus like human toddlers for crying out loud! I really wish that these people who want to baby someone (something ) so much would just adopt a beautiful little girl from China or really any child who really needs the attention. Sure dogs are great, but in their best intrest, do you think they really want to wear sunglasses? :confused3

Just my two cents.

Ok that is really weird and creepy. :scared1:

I think it is some terrible new trend. These are the same people who think their dogs want to go to Kmart or Macys.:sad2: I feel bad for these poor dogs that are trotted all over dressed like a Christmas present. Clothes are not for dogs people! I get the booties and winter cover in the winter but I have yet to see any reason why a dog would need a tutu.

Wow! Thats pretty rude! There may be many reasons someone may not be able to just adopt. Maybe its financial, maybe its because of health reasons, maybe its age. Who knows what the reason may be. If they want to baby their dog thats their prerogative. Now while I don't agree taking it to extremes, we are not to judge them or question why they don't adopt.

Well I'll confess that I dressed my cat up in doll clothes and pushed him around in a doll buggy..........when I was six years old.:lmao: :rotfl2: Poor thing was humiliated.:sad2: :rotfl: I really don't get the appeal to grown people taking it to such an extreme.:confused3

I still laugh at the one time my mother attempted to put a shirt on my dog. :rotfl: It's the ONLY time I have ever truly seen him go dog on any one. I mean he went mad! She learn right quickly he was having nothing to do with that.

Now their pup(the brother to mine) is one who I believe honestly enjoys stuff like that. I have honestly seen him bring his shirt to my mother and stand there while she puts it on him. Mostly in the winter time.

But there are some who will take it way to far.

People have the right to do as they please as long as they aren't hurting anyone. How rude of you to imply it's a choice to not have children; maybe she can't have children! Pets provide a lot of joy to a lot of people, including singles and childless couples. Small toy dogs like Yorkies can't be walking out in the hot weather for too long or they can overheat, so a stroller is a great way to get them outside (also nice for older and/or handicapped dogs).

Quit worrying about what other people are doing with their pets as long as they are providing them with loving homes!!

There is nothing loving about stapping an outfit from the gap and sunglasses on a dog. Sorry but it is cruel to the animal.
I do agree about the adoption thing though. You never know why people don't have children and it isn't that easy to adopt either. YMMV.

:rotfl2: sorry, but I'm just picturing my 80-lb Standard Poodle dressed up in this costume. :rotfl2:

Really, I don't care that people baby their dogs. Personally, I think it's stupid and IMO, they have a screw loose. But you know what they say about opinions--everybody has one:rolleyes1

Ummm, I have several friends & relatives with children of varying ages who have their own little precious that has 4 legs, teeth, a wardrobe and jewelry

My opinion is:
I think it is silly, I don't get it, but whatever (mind you I am not a dog person). Where I have a problem is when my relatives bring their little darlings to my house for Christmas dinner and they beg at the table to the point my DH insisted they be locked in the bathroom which then made my adult cousin pout. Or same darlings pooped in my house, which my relatives were mortified about and quickly picked up, but still! I never took my unpotty trained children to their house without a diaper on! Gheesh

Then there is another relative that can't be gone for more than an hour or 2 because her precious might get lonely or get into some sort of trouble. So, if precious is not tucked under her arm, we are forever running back and forth checking in. I suggested doggy day care and you would have thought I suggested euthanasia:lmao:

My SIL dresses up her 80lb (or so) bulldog and pushes him around in a stroller. Takes him to the mall and everything. Now, he is a lovable dog, but it gets ridiculous. Oh, and she cooks special meals for her dogs everynight but never cooks for herself or her family. :confused3

My dogs are both over 50 pounds so no pushing them in a stroller, but if I had a pocket size dog, I would totally dress it up in clothes!! :thumbsup2

My Aussi had an Ohio State tshirt when she was a puppy and wore it proudly, but she outgrew it.

My Golden would be very crabby if you put clothes on him, but the Aussi loves it, I think she knows it makes it look even more adorable than she already is!! :thumbsup2

I think it is pretty silly, too. I have a cat. I absolutely adore him but I don't think he is my baby and I'm his mommy.

This has actually come up in my family recently. My MIL died a few months back and the family is now making plans to go away for Christmas. One of my SILs doesn't want to go because her dog is like her child and she doesn't want to be away from him at Christmas.

I'm sure that dog was even hotter in its little outfit and blankie

I dont get this "trend" and honestly if I ever do.. someone just shoot me.

:lmao: Was it a babystroller or one of those dog strollers that they sell @ the trendy pet store next to my local TJ's????? :lmao: :lmao:

To each his own......... :)

Maybe she can't afford to adopt....it's about $30,000 to do so. And she obviously loves her dog. Pets don't judge, ( ok maybe cats do) their love is unconditional and studies show people are generally healthier mentally and physically if they own a pet.

And my 90 lb lab and 13 lb cat were Mickey and Minnie for Halloween. And if I could figure out how to post a picture, I'd show you the one of my kitten in her Christmas sweater on Santas lap. :thumbsup2

hmm... I was just going to put DD's babydoll stroller in a yard sale. Maybe not...

I've dressed every dog I have ever owned at least once. But I do not dress them like the Hollywood people do. Nicki has a pair a sunglasses from BuildABear. But I do not put them on her and take her for a walk around the block, LOL. I may have to figure out posting photo so I can post the one of her and the pacifier!

Well said. Took the words right out of my mouth.

So, you're comparing a Yorkie in a stroller to a child in China? How in the heck do those two "beings" even compare?

Lord help us if we start encouraging people who love their dog to go out and adopt a child in need. So not the same thing. At all.
