pens for autograph books

We're leaving in 10 days (hooray!) and I made my own autograph books for my kids. I was thinking about getting sharpies for the characters to sign with but I was wondering if they would be to small for say, Mickey, to sign with. I imagine his hands are rather large and I don't know if he could grip a sharpie very well. I know they sell big autograph pens at WDW so would they be a better option? Thanks for your help.

The autograph pens they sell are slightly thicker and definitely longer than a sharpy. But we've had a horrible time with them over the years. We have one break almost every trip (not to say DS is especially gentle with them). Of course Disney is great about replacing the parts of a broken one for a new one but it is annoying. I've seen people use other markers & pens -- I always forget about getting something else until we're there (arrrgghh :sad2: ). My only concern about Sharpies is how extremely permanant they are, you wouldn't want it on your kids clothing... it's a very exciting time and there is hugging involved so you might want to look for a less permanant marker or some other kind of fat pen. Just my $.02.

Have fun planning! :wave2:

Hi there. I think they might have trouble with a sharpie, and I won't let my kids near a sharpie. :rotfl: Right now at Target in the $1 section they have disney pens on cords (so you can wear them). They are the thick kind that you can change the color at the top, and I think they're just as thick and big as the ones we bought at DW last year.

Have a great time!

We've bought the big ones too but last year we bought some Disney ones at Walmart for $2 a piece, they light up and have a bunch of different characters on them.....we took one that was Captain Hook and when we ran into Peter Pan and Wendy, we had a great time while they reacted to it!!!

Just make sure that the pens are big enough for big hands. Certain characters have really big or bulky hands, and the bigger the pen the better.

I bought one of those too! They had Pooh ones and Cinderlla ones at our Target. They are still there....

Good luck! Have a great time!

We just got back last week and we had a click-to-open Sharpie. It worked very well and we got lots of "comments" from the characters. Hugs and thumbs ups, to be exact.

I was nervous about the whole permanent ink thing, so, at first, I would hand the open marker to the character, then they would click it closed and hand it back to me.

The Sharpie was big enough for them to handle fine and every one of the characters we saw clicked it shut before handing it back.

The characters really love sharpies because they are long enough for just about all of them to write with (except for the tiny clip-on sharpies. Those are way too small).

I just went to Target at their Dollar spot and bought the disney pens with the string around them to put on the kids necks. They are slightly bigger than a sharpie but not much. They were only $1.00!!!! So if they do not work I will be purchasing the infamous $6.50 blue mickey pen.
