What is the best way to take pennies and quarters through airport security. I am taking several rolls of each (I am getting them for about 10 people who also collect them). Is it better to leave them rolled up or should I take them out and put in a clear bag or something. Or is there a way to get rolls of quarters at Disney?

I plan to use the mini-M&M canisters for carrying the quarters/pennies through the park (kind of like a roll, in a way, but alternating 2 quarters/1 penny). But I read (probably here) that the rolls cause delays in airport security because the roll looks suspicious in the xray machine. Because of that, I've decided that I would put them in a ziplock bag in my carry on, and then to kill time on the flight, put them into the tubes after we have made it through security and boarded the plane. I stopped bringing my crystal (lead) makeup brushes in my carry-on for the same reason - every time I had a full bag search at security because the long/skinny lead crystal handle looked suspicious.

This is exactly what I did, too! I had read about the M&M tube looking suspicious, so I put them in the ziplock and had the kids load them at the hotel.

To take them through the airports, pack 'em and seal 'em tight in Ziplocs! When you get to your resort, fill it in M+M tubes.

When we went in December, my boys carried them in M&M tubes in their backpacks onto the plane and didn't have any problems at security.
