Hello!

Sorry to jump in on your forum, but Im looking for a pen pal, overseas, for my soon to be 7 year old. She is in first grade and I think this will be a nice opportunity for her to practice writing and reading. We visited WDW in October and she met so many new "friends" from the UK. A shame I never thought to get someone's address!

Anyway..we live in New England (Boston area). If anyone has a child who may be interested in writing a note once a month/every couple of months, please send me a PM.

Thanks!

i once posted this,on the u.s community board, for my grandaughter, who was 7 at the time.
i got myself really upset & felt sick,in my stomach,at some of the replies,as people were implying,i could be a monster, searching for children & i shouldn't be asking, for childrens addresses.
i felt sick,that people could think that & upset,that i had never,ever thought,my post would be recieved,in that way.
i grew up,in a time, where we never really worried about things like that,so i honestly posted, without giving it a second thought, probably abit naive really.
i do hope,that we on the uk forum,can find a penpal,for your child,as i used to love writing to mine,when i was a child.i had about 6,from france,spain,singapore,australia & 2 in the us & i used to love recieving the letters.
good luck,
tracy

i must be naive too i never thought of that
its a shame things have gone this far so we daren't even talk to other children as parents. kids have to be protected but they have to live too. I think its awful that people said that to you at 7 they could monitor the kids letters anyway pretty easily

I understand, It can be a bit scary, but Im a pretty trusting person. I suppose that could get me in trouble some day! (In this case, I was the one asking, so that would make me the supposed monster!) I remember once I had my pocketbook in a shopping cart and wondered a bit down the grocery isle to grab something, leaving the cart about 6 yards away. A nice woman walked by and said how "dangerous" that was and how I should never leave my cart unattended and I should not even have a pocketbook in a grocery store. I should just carry a card/cash/check in my pocket etc.. Really?? Maybe I just dont want to see the bad in this world.

I have found a pen pal for my daughter (2 siblings, actually). Thanks for the replies and comments. Yes, we should all be cautious when our children are involved, but we also cant deny them great experiences such as pen pals!
