Bad Men? Who Would That Be, Hillary?

Hillary Clinton Suggests She's Equipped to Deal With 'Evil and Bad Men'; Who Did She Mean?

From www.abcnews.com

By KATE SNOW
DAVENPORT, Iowa, Jan. 28, 2007 — - Hillary Clinton says she was trying to be funny. Or maybe she really was thinking about evil men, like Osama bin Laden.

It all started with a question at Sunday's town hall meeting at a fairgrounds in Davenport, Iowa.

A man in the crowd asked about Clinton's experience in dealing with "bad places" in the world like Iran and North Korea. He called the leaders of those countries "evil, greedy, rotten, power-hungry leaders" who usually happen to be men.

Since the man didn't have a microphone and it was difficult to hear in the packed hall, Clinton repeated his question on her mike.

"Question was: What in my background equips me to deal with evil and bad men?" Clinton said.

And then she paused, seemingly for comedic effect. The crowd howled with laughter.

At a press conference later, Clinton was asked what or who she was thinking about during that pregnant pause.

"I repeated the question because the gentleman as you might recall, listed quite a number of the worst actors in our world today, including Osama bin Laden, and I was thinking to myself, 'Well, I think I could do a pretty good job. After all, we still haven't caught OBL, have we? And, isn't it about time we get serious about that?' "

A few minutes later she offered an alternative explanation.

With mock frustration, she said to the assembled national press corps, "I thought I was funny, you know? You guys keep telling me, 'Lighten up. Be funny.' You know? I get a little funny and now I'm being psychoanalyzed."

Another reporter then said he'd asked people in the crowd on the way out and some thought she was referring to President Bush. Others thought she was referring to former President Bill Clinton.

"Oh come on," she said, looking a little peeved. "I don't think anybody in there thought

My wife's a hard core Hillary supporter and she loved the joke. We both think it was definitely about Bubba, who we love, and respect, as well. I thought it was a great joke and it was fun to see Sen. Clinton come out of her shell a bit!

Charlie, bored today? You are an example of what is wrong with the GOP today. :sad2:

(touchy touchy.. wow just mention a Dem and see what happens)
Uh, Charlie, nobody got touchy. Nobody thought this newsworthy.

What was your point in posting it again?

Does it matter? Is it dirt? Is it a criminal offense?

Like I said just reporting some front page news for my fellow DISer's.

I'm not a big Hillary fan and even I got the joke and liked it. Hey, she wouldn't divorce him, she may as well use him for comedy relief.

Seriously, this has got to stop. I don't care which side is doing it, I don't care who started it but this petty stuff, namecalling and mudslinging has outlived itself. How are we ever going to get anyone intelligent to run for office if this is the kind of garbage they are going to have to put up with?

A substantial ethics violation is one thing and anyone who gets caught with their hands in the cookie jar should get slapped. This doesn't pass the smell test.

What no more dumping on President Bush and his administration? (including VP Cheney?)

Wow that’s Great!

It was getting a little tiresome reading the countless posts with all of the petty name calling and accusations aimed the current administration over the last few years.

Thank you!

the Democrats are doing it to this administration because the Republicans did it when President Clinton was in office. That was when I really noticed the level of personal hatred start. A lot of people disliked what Reagan did and disagreed with him, but I really don't recall the hatred that was thrown against President Clinton.

It needs to stop and the side that stops it is going to be the one that looks the best. So far, that's the Democrats. Since they've taken over Congress the mood has been far less nasty. They still don't agree with the President, but they are sticking to facts now, not personal attacks. They are attacking his policy and that's exactly what they were elected to do.

You know Luvduk I must admit I have never known the Democrats to make a BIG deal out of petty issues. Not them no way.:lmao: :lmao:

Snow: No Slight Intended by Bush's Gaffe

By BEN FELLER
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- This one has gotten a little ic-ky for the White House.

President Bush said Monday he wasn't trying to disparage the party now running Congress by referring to it as the "Democrat majority" - as opposed to the "Democratic majority" - in his State of the Union speech.

"That was an oversight," Bush said in an interview with National Public Radio. "I mean, I'm not trying to needle."

Bush's dropping of the "ic" at the end of the word prompted grumbling by Democrats that he purposely got their name wrong.

This is not a new charge. The late President Reagan used to refer to the "Democrat Party." Democratic leaders have long considered it demeaning when their suffix is omitted, and some of them figured it was no accident in a speech as highly choreographed and rehearsed as Bush's State of the Union.
Bush said he wasn't even aware that he had done it.

"I meant to be saying, why don't we show the American people we can actually work together?" Bush said.

The verbal slip came in the same breath as the president was congratulating Democrats for winning the House and Senate in the November election.

Carry on....:lmao: :lmao:

PLEASE!! give me a break! ...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I am serious. I am a registered Republican and I cannot stand to see the direction in which my party is headed. There is no substance. There is no more conservatism (in its truest sense). Just this pettiness. It makes me sick.
