Peg Perego Stoller Question

I have never owned one of these, but my girlfriends swear by them. I have tons of questions for the "experts"

If I was going to be using these in lieu of a travel system, do you prefer the Aria or the P3? Does the Peg infant car seat snap into both? Is the P3 that much heavier than the Aria? This stroller would need to make about 3 trips to WDW. The baby's first trip would be at 6 months, would they both work out or is one better than the other? What are you thoughts (good and bad)?

Here is my stroller history. I currently have a Mac Techno XT for DS3.5 (love this stroller and will switch the baby to it later in life). When DS was a baby I had a Graco travel system, but it was so big and bulky (and loud!) that I am done with travel systems forever. Also, I have no intentions of getting a double stroller.

I also have loved my Pegs. We have an Aria, as well as the P3 clone, an Inglesina Zippy, which we love. It's really personal preference. I really like how light and travel-friendly. It is not very padded, so your 6 month old might not be quite ready. We took our Zippy to Europe and loved it. I liked having the step on the back. I would really recommend you go to a shop where you can test them out with your kids. I have also used both at WDW many times, which one depended on my mood. We had great success with both. Right now, I mainly use the Zippy (this is almost identical to the
P3).Also, go to www.babybargains.com and go to the message board. They have a section on strollers with reviews and opinions and any question you can think of answered. It's a great place.

Ok I hope I can be a little help here. I got the P3 for my son when he was born...he is eight months today!!!! When I bought mine in June the P3 was the only one that was advertised to be used as a travel system. The car seat does NOT snap into it like other brands. It sits in the seat and then you snap a strap over it to keep it in place. Sounds like alot of work, but I promise its not. I didn't get the Perego car seat. I was going to because I got the Mint Green P3 and wanted them to match. It was expensive...over 200 for the car seat and when I picked it up it weighed a ton (without the baby in it already) Instead my hubby had the bright idea of trying another car seat because since it doesn't snap in it doesn't truely matter. We tried a Snugfit from graco....it was perfect. It weighed a ton less and was a little smaller.....so IMO I thought it fit more securely in the stroller. My son is my 2nd I also have a 5 year old and this was our 5th stroller. I Love it for an infant/toddler stroller. Good Luck

I can tell you from first hand experience that the Peg infant carseat weighs a ton!!!

How important is the basket to you? I am not a fan of the P3 basket. It has a metal criss cross over the top of it so you can't fit much in it. I prefer the Aria basket. Both fold up nicely, but the P3 is an umbrella fold. I read on another stroller thread that there is a new Peg stroller that just came out called the Centro. Here's a link: http://www.babyuniverse.com/pro.asp?id=98295&rc=froogle98295. It appears to be more of the P3 size, but with the Aria features. I have an older Peg (an Atlantico) that is similar to this that I really love, but it is pretty bulky. I mainly use it for walks around the neighborhood, walks to the grocery store (because it has a HUGE basket that I can cram about four grocery bags in), etc.

I think the P3 is bigger and will let you use it for longer time. I think weight limit on aria is 40 lbs.

pliko p3 has rear toddler step for older sibling.

pliko p3 is a beautiful stroller.

We just bought the Peg Perego Centro that amarberry mentioned and I love it!!! The standing bar is much better (wider and lower) than the Pliko so my daughter (who is almost 3) can ride on the back better than she could when we tested the Pliko. The basket is huge and spring loaded, so it can fold up if your son wants to stand on the back. No crossbar in it like the Pliko. It doesn't fold umbrella style like the Pliko, but it only weighs 2 lbs. more so it's not huge and bulky. The seat reclines fully (more than the Pliko) and the canopy is reversible so you can use it as a carriage with a young baby if you want. It also comes with a rain shield that zips on and a cold weather boot.

Also, my son is 6 months old and he loves it. Our Mac Techno broke before he was born, but we bought a Chicco C5 that is almost identical and he's not a fan. But he's way happy to sit in the Centro.

I think what I am most torn over is the fold flat vs. umbrella style. When DS3.5 was a baby we had a big Graco travel system, so it folded flat (and was quite heavy) and I never gave it a second thought. Now that he we use the Mac Techno exclusively (and have for about 1 year now) I am spoiled with how small it is. The Graco never came to WDW with us. We brought the Babytrend Lite for the first trip (what a piece of junk- the wheel kept falling off!!!!) and the Mac last year (that handled like a dream)

The new stroller will be used daily for probably about 2years when I plan to switch to my Mac (that I love ) plus will need to get through 2-3 WDW trips (so I like the compact idea of the Pliko). I just don't know if I can justify $300 for a stroller and $200 for the infant seat. . Also, DH is tall so is there a significant difference between the Aria and P3 in handle height??

I am so torn...

I have a P3 that has been used for two children and is still in great shape -- it might not look pretty, but it's got many more miles left.

My Aria is a twin, so consider that, but I do not consider it to be as "nice" as my P3. It's more bare bones. Smaller, harder to maneuver wheels, virtually no padding, etc. But still a nice stroller.

If baby will be napping in it, I'd go for the P3.

OK, one more thing. I have never picked up the Peg car seat before so I did a little checking on a couple of sites and it says the Viggio is only 10.8 pounds while a Graco Snugride is 10 lbs even. Is the weight difference really that noticeable?? (Although I guess I don't care since lugging a heavy car seat will be reason enough not to go to the gym! I prefer, on paper, the Viggio since it will hold infants to 30" and DH and I are both tall and so was DS3.5 as a baby. I prefer to keep in the infant seat until they can sit in a shopping cart unassisted)

I have a 6 year old Pliko, which is the older model of the P3. It has been great! It has an umbrella fold, which I prefer, vs. the Aria. I just think that umbrella folds make strollers much easier to "man-handle". And there is a handle on the side, which makes it very easy to carry. I just think that it is easier to handle a few extra pounds of stroller (P3 vs. Aria) if the stroller is easy to man-handle (woman-handle?) like the P3. And it stands on its own, too. The basket is easily accessible from the sides, and I have stuffed a bunch of stuff in it. It fully reclines for an infant, the seat is nicely padded, and the "floating" 5 point harness is nice for the child to lean out of the stroller to see.

The only problem that I have ever had happened at WDW! The basket was already in bad condition, but DH ripped it when he was trying to fold it. I had been considering replacing the basket for a while, so I wasn't surprised. This is the only problem that I have ever had with it in 6 years (and this was last month when the stroller was almost 6 years old).

My older DD could ride on the back until she was about 5 or just 6 with no problems (she's too heavy now). An older child can't ride on the back when the seat is reclined (I don't know if it is the same for every stroller with a standing board).

I used a Snap N Go for my travel system, which is just a frame for the infant car seat. They are inexpensive and very handy if you don't want to use the P3 for a travel system.

Our Centro has an adjustable handle that my husband pulls out when he uses it and I just push it in when I use it. And we were used to the umbrella fold too, after a Mac and now the Chicco imposter Mac, but the Centro is really light so the flat fold doesn't bother me.
