Peeps 2. The Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Pt 2. Feb '10. 2/21-Final Chapter. Link to TR

Great deal on the computator dude. I agree -- extended warranty = you minus $$ for nothing and them + $$ from suckers. As for antivirus software, get rid of Norton and McAfee. Download avg for free at avgfree.com and ad-aware at adaware.com. Both free. AVG updates for free as well. Best anti-virus software and anti-spyware software out there that I have seen thus far. :thumbsup2

I second that! Nothing gets through it! :thumbsup2

Woohoo for a new laptop..give me a call next time you get tired and feel the need to spend $$$ :rotfl2: Seriously though, glad everything went well with the retreat, and glad to see you back :)

Great laptop Jordan! May it always behave for you! Next time i need some laptop advice, I'll know who to call! ;)

Congrats on the new laptop!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I hope it doesn't put too much of a cramp on your WDW budget. But having a new computer is N-I-C-E!!

I got a new printer the other day with a gift card from Christmas. :thumbsup2 My printer/scanner was so old that it wouldn't even suck the paper up to print on anymore.

I keep forgetting to tell you my father makes frequent trips to Home Depot (he is retired and is always fixing something somewhere.) He always brings back MHPC for me! Lime green as well as all the others! :lmao:
How interesting that you just got a new laptop! I was going back and forth between an SLR or a laptop. I really need the laptop but I really want the camera. I think the laptop is going to win because I have 3 digital cameras. My laptop is at least 6 years old and is soooo slow and I have had the blue screen of death twice. :scared1: It's only a matter of time! ;)

Maybe I will muster up the courage to actually SPEAK to a fellow Diser this trip! :scared1: Probably not when Dad is around though, he already thinks all of this planning ahead is very strange. He has not been for 15 years and when we went we packed our lunches into the park. I can't wait to introduce him to Disney dining! :woohoo:

I'm extremely tired. So tired that I bought a new laptop. That's right I bought a new laptop.

Well let me back up. My roommate's laptop has been acting up lately. It's 5 years old and that's like 90 years old in human years. Last night, it took me forever to do what I needed to do on these boards and it was frustrating. The old laptop has randomly been turning off and not restarting.... I need a new computer I thought. With just over a month left before my trip, just think how many updates I need to do.....

So after work today, I went to BestBuy to purchase a new computer. However I did have a little help...........

Who has all the technical knowledge around these parts? Who out Peeps the original Peep?

That's right Great Biscuit to the rescue again!!!!

So I PMed with an urgent request for help purchasing a new laptop. He called me and we chatted about what I was looking for in a laptop. He directed me to the Sony Vaio. He also said not to buy virus software in the store and not to get the extended warranty (I'll just send the computer to him for repairs). Off I went like the good listener that I am...and bam...new computer.:thumbsup2

Oh good, I was worried that GB was speaking in code or I'd missed a whole 'nother series of posts as I didn't have a clue what he was referring to before you posted this update!

Very cool on the laptop!! Love the reasoning too, DIS updates!

I have to admit, extended warranties have saved my bacon twice as I don't have a GB at my disposal and geekiness aside, I can't really fix them myself (or am too scared to?) but GREAT info on the antivirus, really wish we'd done that. So maybe I am a sucker but given that I've had my motherboard replaced twice in 2 years plus the video card and memory, it seems to have paid for itself.

Great deal on the computator dude. I agree -- extended warranty = you minus $$ for nothing and them + $$ from suckers. As for antivirus software, get rid of Norton and McAfee. I'm going to look into this., Despite the fact our AV stuff is long paid for, I can't stand it, it's always causing problems! Great info.

You have done well young Jedi.

Got your PM...good job on remembering AVG Antivirus. (Like I said, I like free. I feel good about free. Free is a happy word.)

I also like your upgrades there. Considering the features, its not a bad choice spending the extra $$. I'll be standing buy for support calls. Just holler if u need something.

(Can't be as bad as the field call I went on when I worked for the state. Drove 120 miles to discover the office manager had plugged the server's surge protector into itself rather into the wall.)

Enjoy the 'puter! Looking forward to many Peeps updates!

BTW - PM'd you the other program I told you about...Underdog mentioed it above. Ad Aware by Lava Soft

I wanted to apologize to everyone for not posting my MHPC tally.
I think I let the holiday's get away with me and forgot to post the total of how many I actually commandeered. :rolleyes1
I appreciate everyone who was sweet enough to guess, and then put up with me letting you hang in the breeze until I got my poop in a group.

OK the moment you've been waiting for.

Drum roll please.........772! :teeth:

Dan, I was wondering with your new add's, what number did you end up with?
Is it sad that we counted them?? Whaaa? :confused3

Wow Camille!

:worship::worship:

Snazzy new laptop, Jordo. My desktop is 5 years old, so I guess that makes it about 90, too. Although, I actually added an additional hard drive and more memory a couple years ago so I could run my video editing software. So, maybe its more like 60? It wants to retire, but I told it it has to continue working until it can collect social security.;)

Yay for a new laptop- I also use the free virus stuff-has caught a bunch of nasty stuff for me. Can't wait to see/read all the updates!

Another :thumbsup2 for AVG! I have used it on my laptop since I got it a year ago and it's worked great! I am lucky enough to have a friend who's a computer guy, so he told me about AVG - I had been paying $70.00 a year for Mcafee.

I'm now downloading adaware :)

Newbie here to the post.

Jordon, I saw your TR title "The Hot, Sweaty Asian Strikes Back"... and was wondering who in the world wrote a TR about my husband? :rotfl2: Well actually his would be The Hot, Sweaty 1/2 Asian That Everyone thinks is Italian or Hispanic instead of Asian Strikes Back.

Love your TR's and can't wait for the Feb one. We'll be there too and be sure to point any hot babes your way.

Love the new laptop! :thumbsup2

Glad the extra craziness of the holidays is over for you & you can get back to the regular day to day craziness.:goodvibes
