Pediasure in checked bags?

My 2 year old drinks pediasure. He is not a good eater and we supplement.

So Far, I have found no restrictions on bringing pediasure. Anyone else ever brought pediasure onboard?

Second, put it in checked bag?

We are not flying, we are driving from MD to NYC port. I plan to bring a case with me but would prefer to put it in our checked bag and not to have to lug it around with me waiting for our stateroom to be ready!

Personally I would not put it in checked luggage. If it lands on the bottom of a pile-up and breaks open, that is a huge mess. AND you will be responsible for any damage to others' luggage and clothing.

I imagine it is similar to bringing soda or water on board - you can bring as much as you want but it must be carried on.

I agree with @Dug720 shoukd be out in carry on bag not checked just like other beverages.

Good idea, I was just thinking since we are driving to port our checked bags weren't been handled much. (No airport or transfer) But it still isn't worth the risk.

I'm going to put it in a small pull along carry on bag!

Thanks!

Contact special service and they should be able to help you. I had a client that needed a nutritional supplement for their child (didn't eat any food by mouth). Someone was able to meet them and take the supplements from them so they didn't have to carry it onboard.

My daughter only drinks boxed chocolate milk. I took them in gallon zip locked bags in our carry on without any problems. You should be fine if in your carry on.

It's actually as bad if not worse getting from the curbside porters to your stateroom on the ship! Definitely plan to carry-on :)

Enjoy your cruise!

We flew to Disney last year so we had to check the Pediasure. We put the bottles in to ziplock bags and put other soft food around it to pad it. (Granola bars, fruit snacks, etc.). Made it through the flight and magical express just fine.

Someone - @PrincessShmoo I think - has an even better picture of the great luggage pile-up INSIDE the ship. They get really mushed!

My daughter is 100% tube fed and we use Pediasure. I have to bring like a case and a half and am putting it in our checked luggage. Ours is ordered via home health service and it comes in cans, though, so I am pretty sure it will be fine. I have shipped cases to WDW when we went there, and it made it there, just fine. So I think it will be fine in your luggage. I would just pad it, and put it in sealed bags, in case of leakage. If it's not a whole lot, just carry it on. I just don't want to be lugging a case and a half through the whole terminal and ship until our stateroom is ready!

I would treat it as I would any other beverage and put it in my carry on. DCL asks that any beverages brought onto the ship be in your carry on to prevent checked luggage from being damaged if the liquids leak. They reserve the right to remove any beverages found in checked luggage. So just carry it on to be safe. As a PP mentioned, check with Special Services to see if a CM could take it from you at embarkation and deliver it to your stateroom, or just have it in a roller bag.

This. They have their rules in place for a reason. I can assure you that if my luggage and clothes are damaged because someone was too selfish to follow the "no beverages in checked luggage" rule there will be H-E-Double Hockey Sticks to pay.

I would contact the Special Services folks and ask for their recommendation. The very best solution is what someone else mentioned, if someone from DCL met you as you boarded and delivered it to your stateroom. It's too important to your child's health to put in checked bags. If it's critical, it goes with us.

I think this is the most critical point. You wouldn't (or shouldn't) put prescription medication in your checked bags. If the Pedicure is that necessary, it's too important to risk having lost in checked baggage.

Rare, but some checked luggage get baths in the ocean before boarding. Will this affect your Pediasure if your bag is one of them?

My sister is tube fed, cruises often and always puts her formula in carry on bags...On the airline she gets extra carry on allowance for medical supplies,
on a cruise she will not check her formula, it is always with her.
