My DS is allergic to all nuts. When I made my ADRs the very helpful CM explained how they note it is the reservation, the chef will talk to us Etc. I feel very comfortable dining at TS's. My concern is CS, which may be more hit or miss. Any suggestions or recommendations to assure safe CS dining?
:) :confused3 :surfweb:

From what I have seen, they are very good at the CS dealing with allergies. When we were at Cosmic Rays (MK) the man in front of us ordered a burger with no bun. The CM immediately asked if that was because of an allergy or just preference. The man said food allergy but not to worry about it, just leave off the bun, the CM would have no part of that and immediately called a manager up to make sure that they got him "safe" food.

My nephew & baby niece both have severe dairy, egg & peanut allergies, so I pay a lot of attention to how things are handled wherever I go. I love that at Disney we get asked at almost every restaurant if anyone in our party has food allergies before they seat us.

When you made your ressies, did they give you the phone number for the woman who handles food allergy issues for WDW? I think her name is Brenda. She should be able to tell you if any of the CS use peanut oil to fry with.

Have a great (safe) trip!

I am allergic to tree nuts (but peanuts are OK) I usually just stay away from things that may have nuts in them-like baked goods. I'm a big fan of mickey rice-krispie treats and Mickey bars for my after dinner treats! I am pretty careful, I haven't had a reaction in more than 15 years....but if I was worried about my kids and not just me I would probably ask for a list of ingredients.

email brenda.bennett@disney.com and ask for info on what cs and snacks are tree nut free. She will email you back all the places and foods that are safe. She will even contact where you have ressies at. She did this for our dd who is allergic to gluten, we will be there on Monday.

Thanks everyone for the advice and for the contact info! This helps so much! At home, he never really eats out (except pizza, McDonalds) so I was so worried about having to eat out every meal while we are staying at Disney.

Thanks again. :)

There is plenty for nut free eaters even at CS but you really have to check ingredients carefully. This year WDW has switched to multi-grain buns and pizza crusts. These have sunflower seeds which most nut allergy people are told to avoid and a cross contam warning so that made things much more difficult than in years past when pizza was our easy go to food. WDW now has lots of gluten free free foods they use for all allergies (at least one CS per park will have gluten free buns, Amy's gluten free pizza, and a safe mac and cheese). Personally I don't like the gluten free rolls but that was usually the only safe bread available. In the Main Street Bakery they have a whole shelf with allergy safe snacks and that was a great place for me to stock up with my snack credits.

Oh, that stinks. Last year, we had Wonder bread buns and regular pizza crust with no problems. I hope Disney can find a better alternative to the sunflower seed breads, so nut allergic people aren't stuck eating bunless burgers and hot dogs. My kids don't like the gluten-free breads, either. It's kind of silly to get health crazy about fast food.
