Peanut Allergy??

The main one that does bother him is the cookies.

I have read many times that the chefs are very accomdating when allergies are a concern. Maybe you could request peanut free cookies such as oatmeal raisin or sugar cookies? I still wouldn't get those off the buffet because of cross contamination, but perhaps if they were brought out freshly made? The kids club bakes chocolate chip cookies if memory serves, but I know chocolate can be tricky depending on how it is processed. Best of luck to you!

I think I will fill out the form just to be on the safe side.

Yes, desserts are very tricky. My son's allergy is so severe that we even avoid items that have been processed in an environment around peanuts. I generally don't allow him to have the desserts. Usually at dinner he will have ice cream. It doesn't really bother him not to have the different desserts. The main one that does bother him is the cookies. I will probably bring cookies on board that I know he can have.

It is always a good idea to document any medical info in writing. We have been on 2 DCL cruises and they do bend over backwards for you. We don't have any food allergies. In the kids areas one activity is making chocolate chip cookies, so you ds could do that. I've never seen any food or drink in the kids areas when other activities are going on.

Well, I called DCL. I spoke to a very nice CM who told me that I was not required to fill out the Medical Form, BUT she highly recommended it. She double checked my reservation and found that the original CM who booked my cruise did not note it on my reservation. She added a note and told me it would be forwarded to Dining and the Children's Program. I printed out the form and will drop it off tomorrow at the Dr's office.

I'm not too worried anymore. I plan to not let DS9 eat with the kid's program. I will make sure we are with him when he eats. I have trained the poor kid to ALWAYS ask about peanuts. I know you don't always get correct info, but sometimes all you can do is ask. Plus, he has limited tastes so he will probably live on chicken tenders and fries. LOL We do allow him to eat things that are 'processed in a shared facility' if he is with us and the EpiPen. Luckily my DS has never had a severe reaction although blood tests say that he could. We discovered his allergy at a very young age and he has never accidentally ingested any significant amounts. I pray our luck holds out.

Again, I want to thank all of you for your help. Best of luck to all of you who will be traveling with someone who has food allergies. Safe and happy sailing!:thumbsup2
