Peachtree Road Race update

For those of you in the Atlanta area planning to run this.

They have a solution to the ending mess. We end at a new location and then walk to the Civic Center. Doesn't sound too bad and there's a nice Marta station at Civic Center. Most of the route is the same which is good!

I saw this last night At least they kept the start the same and the whole route down Peachtree the same...it will be weird not entering the park after the finish, but I agree that access to MARTA may be quicker. You'd always have to walk a few blocks from Piedmont anyway to get to a station.

Thanks for the update! I like the idea of ending closer to a Marta Station at the end!

The big bummer for me is that this is the only race I ever get to gloat about when I finished. I am usually way up in front so I am finished before half the race even starts. I just love feeling like I am so fast as I weave my way (tshirt in hand) through the crowds still watching the masses of people running. I love showing my shirt to bystanders as if I won some great prize. I know I know, I need treatment.

Where are you usually seeded? I was in 1B last year and finally qualified for 1A this year :

Are you doing the Silver Comet 10k (fast, flat & great for that seeding time!) or do you use one of the other qualifying races?

Looking forward to this year, especially with virtually the same route

Randy is in 1A... He is REALLY whining about this ending location. I have no idea why but he is threatening not to do the race. We will see.

I am just trying to get a time for group 3 LOL! I read last year that if you send in ANY time you can get in three so...... I am doing the Charles Harris in Tucker this weekend (Cross your fingers it's not raining Sat morning. I have never even tried to run in rain!)


(And Cecilia, you will understand that last year I called you some not so nice names LOL!)

Randy is in 1A... He is REALLY whining about this ending location. I have no idea why but he is threatening not to do the race. We will see.

Looks like it is eliminating the mostly down hill run down 10th in favor of a flat to uphill finish at Juniper and Ponce...the last thing we need is a hilly finish. Maybe that's the reason?
