Peabody(?)Hotel ducks...

Sorry, I know this is not Disney but has anyone ever seen this? I think it is at the Peabody where ducks come down the elevator around 10 am and hop into the hotel pool? We had wanted to see it this past April while staying at the Hard Rock Hotel (after 3 days in Disney) but just couldn't drag the kids away from IOA and US. Anyone know what I am talking about? I have some time to kill (about 9 hours to be exact!!)in Orlando next month before catching a plane to Phila and have been trying to think of some cool things to do. Think I might just check it out this time.

Yes, Cantw8, it is the famous Peabody ducks who march across the lobby and into the fountain. I have never seen it, but I think The Peabody is located on Int'l Drive. If you did visit, you'd be close to lots of other things to do as well. (i.e. Ripley's Museum, Wonderworks, Pointe Orlando, etc.) Just keep in mind that traffic on I-Drive can be pretty unforgiving.

OK, so it's not a big deal, but I LOVE it! I get a total kick out of it!!

They roll out a red carpet, and then the elevator door opens and the ducks parade down the carpet, up the stairs and into their fountainw here they happily amuse guests for the day.

They parade at 11:00am and then go back to the elevator at 5:00pm.

The Peabody serves one of the best brunches on Sunday mornings, a great excuse to see the ducks

The Peabody Hotel is on International Drive, but it is well-past the worst part of I-Drive. The hotel is fairly easy to get to.

The Peabody Ducks stay in a penthouse "suite" on the roof of the hotel when they are not "on stage". Each morning a hotel employee in formal attire brings the 5 ducks down on an elevator. A red carpet is rolled out from the elevator to the fountain in the lobby. The ducks "parade" to the fountain where they stay throughout the day. Guests can watch the parade, or sit by the fountain and watch the ducks.

At 5:00 p.m. the employee rolls out the red carpet again and the ducks retire to their penthouse suite for the night. Once they are safely away in their night-time home, guests and visitors can go to the roof level to "visit" with them.

The original Peabody Hotel is in Memphis, TN.

Thanks everybody....it's the simple things in life that I get a kick out of!!! BTW...I hope the Peabody doesn't have duck on the menu!!!LOL.

We went a few years ago. We zoomed into the parking lot 5 minutes before & told the attendant we were there to see the ducks. We had no problem parking & going in. The kids & I loved it, however, I'm not so sure about dh!

I haven't seen it in Orlando, but did see the ducks once in Memphis. It was fun to watch
