Ok, have a suite booked at PBH.
For those who know the resort, i thought there was 5 or 6 floor levels.
I recieved an email to say i have a suite booked on the highest floor i.e 4th floor, never said which wing, any ideas.

Robert, if you look in this picture and see the rooms at the top with the 4 balconies all together, that is the villa suite we stayed in on the 4th floor. It looks like it is the top floor.

Thanks for that Damo, i knew you would have the answer:goodvibes , so we are on the 4th floor, but do not know which wing or view, as we ahere not bothered which it was , it would be nice with a balcony though.

We stayed at Portofino Bay Hotel twice during our trip. I can say that this was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The foods are great, rooms are very nice and comfortable for you to stay and the staff are friendly. :thumbsup2

Maybe they are going to surprise you with a villa suite!!!

I am not that lucky Damo:sad: I am happy with the free suite upgrade, for the extra space.

I thought all the Portofino Suites were in the West Wing? And, I thought there was only a half dozen (or so) of them?

Barb is correct. There are 6 Portofino suites and they are all in the West Wing. There are also 6 Villa Suites - two of them on the top (5th floor) of the West Wing.

We were in a Portofino suite on the 4th floor our last stay. We have stayed in the Villa Suites on the 5th floor. Although there are 2 Villa Suites on the 5th floor of the West Wing, I don't think there are any Portofino suites up there too.

So, if you are indeed on the top floor, maybe you are being surprised with a Villa Suite.

Ya know...it WOULD make sense if you were in a 'suite' (of ANY kind) that you'd be in the West Wing....best place to be in the whole hotel.

Right? :teeth:

Although all the Portofino suites are in the West Wing, (and my two favorite Villa suites), there are also several Villa Suites in the Villa wing too. There is one directly above the club lounge. It has the small, step out balconies.

Also, if you are looking at the club lounge windows from the piazza, there is one directly to the left (after the little outside balcony.) This one does not have the fabulous balconies of the West Wing Villa Suites or any balconies at all, but it is only steps from the club lounge, so very convenient. Although I don't recommend it during Thanksgiving when they are hanging the Christmas lights The workers on the their cherry pickers get up really early to hang those lights. :goodvibes

Villa Wing is okay too (Alison stayed there last summer).... I just wouldn't think a nice suite would be over in the EAST Wing...that's just dumb! All that luxury and then a hulluva walk to the boats... :sad2:

And to the club lounge as well.

Robert, I thought my villa suite was on the fourth floor but according to Goofy!, it was the fifth. That would mean that the Portofino suite that we stayed in for one night on the same side was on the fourth.

I dug up this picture of the bay side of the West Wing. Notice there are 5 sets of windows from the ground if you are looking at the Villa Suite that is labelled, the first floor being the ground level rooms with French doors to the Piazza.

However, IIRC, there are only rooms on the bay side on the 5th floor. There are no rooms on the beach pool side of the hallway, unlike floors 1-4 that have rooms on both sides of the hallway. Some of the rooms are really set back on the 5th floor, so it looks like parts of the building is 4 floors and part is 5 floors. :goodvibes

Goofy -
You sound like you are in the know and can provide me with some guidance. (Anyone else who can help are also welcome!) I am flying to FL for my niece's bridal shower and plan to surprise my mom for one night 2/22 at PBH. My mom missed her dream vacation with us at TG to WDW & US because she broke her leg and was stuck in a nursing home for two months. I wish I could stay longer but this is a quick trip for me and I am just glad I will get to see my parents! I am booked in a Portofino Bay suite on 2/22. I plan on paying for club level services at check-in. My mom currently still uses a walker and a scooter (it was a really, really bad break!). My father is legally blind. I want to request a suite that would be most convenient for my parent's disabilities. I thought all Portofino Suites were in the west wing. It sounds like they also have a few in the Villa building if I understood your post correctly. Any suggestions? I never email resorts for room requests but I am thinking I should in this instance. Is there a specific person I could email?
Tx!

thanks guys for the info.
just checked the email i got, it says the suite is on the Highest floor , 4th floor. Either they are not sure or maybe they count the 1st floor as ground floor then the next is 1st and so on , meaning the highest which is actually the 5th, would be the 4th, just a thought,
not that it really matters

Are you booked in a Portofino Suite? I ask because I just checked two past reservations and the 4 reservations I have booked for this year and none of them mention anything about the location, i.e. "highest floor". Maybe you are getting a super duper upgrade! Good Luck!:goodvibes

Never mind -The PBH has taken care of us for our upcoming trip!

The manager selected the suite for us, my booking was free upgrade to Portofino Suite[Platinum] He emailed me to see what view and where i wanted the suite, i did not care what the view was, so he emailed me back , said i was on the highest floor i.e 4th Floor, but the highest floor is 5 apparently.

Ok, for now we have a Portofino Suite booked for my birthday in May.

First, we never got an email confirmation, and it's been a month. Second, when we try to pull up the reservation online, it says the reservation can't be pulled up online (but I do see on my credit card statement that they took the one night's deposit). Third, is that normal for a manager to call and ask the view, etc? We have never had that happen, and not this time either. :confused3

We have the SS rate with upgrade to the Portofino Suite with Platinum status too.
