I could call the hotel but does anyone know if you can have the hotel empty the minibar before check-in, so to use it for our own drinks and snacks?

Good question. I think I have heard that they will do this. Somebody else might be more helpful.

I actually know the answer to something for a change. When I asked if there is a fridge in the room for my son's medications and milk, I was given two options: 1. a one time charge of $25 to empty the minibar or 2. rent a fridge for $15/night. The CM admitted to me that the minibar fridges are the same as one you would rent so we'll plan to have the minibar emptied.

I contacted a concierge at PBH - you can either empty the minibar yourself, of nonperishables, and put them back in before you check out, at no charge. Or, you can have the hotel empty the contents of the minibar for a charge of $20.00.

We're staying at RPR but I assumed it would be same deal at any of the hotels. I like your answer better! Maybe I should check with the concierge at RPR to clarify (I spoke to the front desk).
