I read somewhere that you have to walk a great distance to get to the PBH Club level food area. Is this true? :confused3

Unfortuately yes, at least from our room. The club rooms are located in the Villa wing. We had a view of the villa pool. It is a great walk, however the lounge itself it beautiful. The walk was really one of the only negative during our stay.

Here is a map of the hotel:

Hi! Just got back from the Portofino. Loved it! This was my first time. Prior to going I had read many post on this forum about how important it was to get a room in a certain wing so that you weren't so far away from different things like the boat launch etc. When I got there I was really confused about this advice because I really felt like no matter where you stayed it wasn't much of a walk to anything. Sure, you have to walk a little, but I didn't feel like it was a hassel or any kind of long haul anywhere. Unless you really hate walking or you have physical difficulties walking I don't think you should fret about this. In fact, if we didn't have to walk through various areas in order to get from our room to different areas of the hotel, we would've missed out on some really beautiful nooks around the property. There are different piazzas to discover, fountains, and pretty artwork spread around the hotel. Hope this helps.

The villa wing is long and winding and if you end up with a room that is toward the end of the wing you will be in for a long walk. Some of the club rooms are very close though. They are just above the lounge so you are only a short elevator ride away.

Yes we happened to be toward the end of the wing. DH and I are in great shape, this is not the issue. It's more the convenience of let's say we were in the room and wanted a drink...it was a big expedition to walk the corridors, then hop an elevator etc. to get to the lounge. Also we have kids (8 & 10 y.o.) who are becoming more independent. If the lounge was closer by we would feel comfortable allowing them to grab a snack by themselves. This was one of the positives of HRH Club (we're staying there in July) over PBH (though PBH definitely wins in terms of luxury).

The best access I had to club was at HRH. Our kid's suite was just off the entraceway that led to the club lounge. I would sometimes just stand at the door and watch my 10 year old go grab a water.

Yes, that is great. I'm sure your 10 y.o. felt very cool and grown up.

The other positive though of PBH Club over HRH is the food at PBH is better and my son is slightly disappointed there is no pool table at HRH.

Oh well...Nothing is perfect. We're are totally excited.

I read this post while staying at RPR. I couldn't post a reply because I didn't know my password. I took the bus to PBH and paced the distance from the club to the end of the villa wing at a distance of 830 feet. Three PBH employees were in the hallway and agreed that it was quite a trek.

We were in 2502 and 2507, right above the club lounge so only a few minutes away. I called the hotel a few days ahead of time, asked questions and then made room requests. We were very pleased with all aspects of the hotel.

2507 had a bay view, with a false balcony (but all rooms have floor-to-ceiling
windows) and was a few steps closer to the elevator. 2502 has bay view, no balcony, but very quiet.

Get a deluxe room with a patio and then ask to add club level. Our patio was huge and we were all able to use it at the same time. This would put you closer to the club room. We had a deluxe room looking out at the smaller pool and the bacci ball courts and it was not a bad walk to the club. We let our 11 dd got down on her own with a 2 way in hand, it worked well. You walk past it often just getting out and around the place. It is big and spread out and very beautiful.

We just got back about a week ago, we were in Room 2601, we had a harbor view (very nice). I wouldn't say our room was far from the Concierge Lounge, it would call it more inconvenient ;)

You don't necessarily get a room in the Villa wing. The last time I booked club at PBH I got stuck at the far end of the East wing. Talk about a long walk.
I just didn't care for the location of the PBH club lounge anyway. I hated that people were always trying to get in. Can't understand why the doors have those windows on it.
I prefer RPR club to either of the others. I like the staff, location and smallness of it.
