Okay, we have been selling stuff like crazy on eBay to fund our trip next month. Initially we said "Money orders only", but I do have a Paypal account, so I agreed to take Paypal for two auctions. My paypal account is drawn from my credit card and I've only used it to make purchases on eBay. HOw do I use it to receive money for an ended auction?

The person has emailed me and said that their transaction "was approved", but do I need to do something to get the $$ into our checking account? I added DH's checking account to our paypal account, but I'm afraid that I need to actually do some kind of request that the money be taken from the account of the person who won the auction.

Can anyone give me any help with this? Thanks so much! We are soooo close to paying for everything on our trip except our lodging just with stuff sold on eBay. (Gotta love those old motorcycle parts!!)

In paypal there is a tab that says WITHDRAW, click on that and you can withdraw the money and it goes into your checking account as long as you have signed up on Paypal with your checking account - it takes a couple of days - I've never had any problems.

When I go into Paypal, I see "Withdraw", but when I click on that tab, it just shows that I can take out $500. I think it's saying that if I took from that $500, it's kind of like a cash advance like from a credit card. On the main page, it says my balance is $0.00. Do I need to wait until the winner of the auction "deposits" the money into our paypal account, or do I need to request that the money be deposited?

Thanks!

You don't need to do anything to receive the payment UNLESS you want to send the buyer an invoice which would be under "request money". But normally the buyer will "send money" and it will be in your paypal account seconds after they do this. The "withdrawl" function is only for when someone has sent you money and you want take it out. Hope this helps some!

You wouldn't typically get an email from the buyer saying their payment had been approved. You'd get an email from PayPal saying you had received an instant transfer of X amount. Then on your PP account page it wouldn't show as $0 balance. Your balance should be whatever the amount they paid you was, less PP's fee.

From the withdraw tab, it will again show the balance in your account. It is a free transfer into your checking account, and the money should be there in 3 or 4 days. The $500 is a montly limit imposed by PP until a seller goes through a few more steps to eliminate the limit. Next month it will again show $500. This does not mean you can have $500....you can have up to that amount of your balance transferred.

Someone may have paid you with an echeck and it would show as 'Pending" or "Uncleared." If the buyer doesn't have a credit card attached to their PP account; just a checking account, the money has to clear from their hecking before PP will release it to you. In this case you get a notice that it is pending and to wait until you get a cleared notice before sending their items.

Thanks so much! I am relieved to hear that I don't have to initiate the payment for the stuff I was selling. I was anxious that some person out there on eBay was wanting to pay with Paypal and was waiting for me to do something and gettting frustrated. If I have this right, the person has not paid yet through Paypal if it shows a $0 balance, right?

I will maybe email the person and make sure that they were intending to use Paypal.

Thanks again, everyone!
