Paypal/Ebay question!!!!

You can no longer require the buyers to purchase insurance. You either have to build a charge into your listing for insurance, and eat the cost yourself. It's a new rule from either September or October.

Insurance is protection for you as a seller, not for the buyer. As a seller, it's your responsibility to make sure that item item is delivered in the same condition as it left your house.

Insurance is worthless.

Paypal is currently holding my account $200 in negative and I don't know what to do. Someone chargebacked my account.

I sold an item. I trusted UPS to pack & ship it. I spent $20+ on their pack and ship promise service. I was guaranteed that if the item broke, I would be covered.

Buyer agrees with me that the item broke because the UPS store packaged it in a stupid way.

The item is not replaceable and I can't afford to just give this person their money back until I either 1. get a refund from UPS or 2. get my item back.

UPS is now giving me the run around saying they need to contact the buyer to investigate if its really their fault and then determine if it was their fault. Yeah... Um, it was in perfect shape until I dropped it off in my local UPS store and signed the papers.

My local UPS store won't even talk to me now.

The buyer has not responded to my emails asking for her contact information so UPS can call her to set up an investigation.

So looks like I lose $200 and my item. And I'm sure I'll get bad feedback as well.

I don't understand how this is legal. I will be taking UPS store to small claims because I have pictures of the item from before it was shipped, a saved email from the buyer where she says its clear that the item was poorly packaged and the receipts from UPS saying I paid for their packing guarantee. Sad that I'll have to resort to this but I need to cover my losses somehow.

I'm finishing up the rest of my auctions I have going now and then never using Ebay again. :sad2:

I've heard numerous horror stories about UPS store doing this to other people too.

I would venture to say they have probably had some fraudulent sellers "sell" an item, then take then clear out the account before a chargeback could be made.

Was the item some sort of electronics? These have a higher incidence of fraud, and are included I belive in this new policy.

Paypal can and will chargeback your account with nothing in it, send you into negative and then put a hold on your bank account on file for the amount. Don't think that they won't. They just did it to me.

Paypal does not care about sellers at all. There is ZERO protection for sellers whatsoever. It renders Ebay not worth it.
