paypal ebay question??please help

HI I am a newbie to selling on ebay, I have bought before and used paypal using my credit card.. While now since I have money in my paypal account. I just bought a (buy it now item) and checked out using paypal, I wanted to use my credit card. But when I checked out, it automatically took the money out of my paypal balance.
My question is this standard?? Or is there away to pay using my credit card, not my balance. I did not want to use my balance in my account..
Any help would be great! TIA

As far as I'm aware, Paypal will always deduct money from the existing balance first.

I usually empty out my PayPal account (with my debit card) if I want to use my alternate form of payment which is my credit card. Even if I have 5 cents in my account they take that THEN apply the rest to my CC.

Yep, your Balance will always go first.

Don't feel bad. I've been with eBay for 3 years now as a seller and I just found this out!

This happened to me one time, and ever since when I use PayPal to pay I make sure when I start to submit payment and it shows my linked checking account info I click on the (very) small line "Other funding options" to get my credit card info to come up instead, then click on that to use it to pay with my credit card - you might see if that works for you too next time!

Yep Seahunt is right, it will always take your balance out first but if you don't want to use your balance you can always hit the OTHER FUNDING OPTIONS button and choose where you want the money to come from.

I always use the "other funding options" button because my PayPal acct is connected to a savings acct I rarely use. I click on my credit card but they STILL will take the balance of my money on the PayPal account first.
