Payment with Disney Gift Card

We have a lot of money built up on our disney rewards visa and were going to have it transferred to a gift card. Can you pay for TS meals using this card? Can you tip with a gift card? We'll be using it at:

Tony's
Rose & Crown
O'hanas
Hollywood & Vine
50's Primetime
Boma's

Do you know if they put a hold on the GC (like places do with a credit card, for example)?

Thanks... and I would like to know if there is a hold as well. I just thought of something, what if we charged our food to our room and then used the GC to pay our room balance at the end of our stay. Would that work??

That's what we plan to do. I'm nervous about handing over the card at each restaurant individually - some unscrupulous person may swipe for an amount over the bill and pocket it - I won't know until the next time I use it or if it runs out of credit before it should.

For peace of mind we will charge to the room & apply the $525 in rewards to the resort bill.

I have used a Disney rewards card on my last three trips to WDW. It has never happened that an amount over the bill has been swiped. Each time I use the card, it is returned to me with a statement showing the amount of Rewards dollars remaining on the card. It's pretty easy to follow from one charge to the next to make sure the correct amount is being charged.

And, there is nothing to pocket anyway - it's not like someone can take the dollars on the card and turn them into cash somehow. This is an unnecssary worry in my opinion.
