Payment at food carts

Just a quick question regarding various food carts/stands found around the park. Do they accept Visa/MC?

We can't use our Canadian debit cards when we travel to the States and usually charge most everything rather than keep exchanging cash.

Howdy!

Yes, credit, debit, Disney gift cards, cash is accepted. Be it for a drink, churro or ice cream, etc.

Have an awesome trip! And happy eating!

Is there a reason you can't use your Canadian debit card in the US? We've used ours there with no problem. Now I am worried and going to have to call my bank and check!

We are able to use our debit card in the States, no problem at all. We usually just do the usual call to credit and debit cards to let them know of US travel dates etc. Our one bank even has some free US transactions with just paying the standard exchange rate. So don't be afraid to use your debits. But for sure, give your bank a call to give them heads up.

I'll have to have my husband double check. We go to the States every year to visit family and haven't been able to use them before because they are the chip cards with no visa etc emblem.

Actually, we have an appointment at RBC this weekend so I'll ask them then.

Maybe your debit cards will be accepted now? Perhaps there is more in the way of modern merchant/banking technology in place now.

I'm from Canada too, ask your bank about getting a visa debit card. I got one earlier this year and wouldn't ever go back. I've had no issues using mine in the US or even Europe (we went to Paris this past April), for me, it's way more convenient that using a credit card and the fees are only the exchange rate or if you make a withdrawal from an ATM. And even then it's minimal I think it cost me $5 to withdrawal 400 Euro when we were in Paris, not too bad I'd say.

Be sure to ask on fees - I travel the other way to Canada once a year, but don't use mine because the bank socks me with all sorts of fees.

Thanks everyone. DH and I googled last night and yeah, it seems that we can use our debit (Interac) fine at ATMs, which we have done, but may run into issues as we have before when trying to use it at registers.

So it may just be easier for us to carry cash just for our Dole Whip and popcorn binges and charge everything else.

I will ask RBC on Saturday anyway just to see if things have changed in the past year for interest's sake.

Only SOME of the carts accept credit cards. There are quite a few of them that are cash only.

I ran into this same issue in June, in both parks. I suggest you keep cash on you for snacks.

Every purchase I made from a food cart accepted all forms of payment. At DCA for ex. a mobile ice cream vendor accepted Am/X and my DGC.
It is always a good idea I agree to have cash on hand as well.
