Payless Car Rental

Hey guys! Do any of you have experience with Payless Car Rental? If so, how was it? I only ask b/c I have seen numerous negative reports about their customer service. I went with Payless strictly based on price, I have no experience in renting a car.

Of course, as here on the Dis, opinions are opinions and can vary greatly from person to person.

Any insight would be helpful-thanks!

Well, apparently I am insane (no comments from the peanut gallery . I thought I rented a car from Payless when I booked our airfare with Southwest-but I did not. So good news, sounds like I dodged a bullet there. Whew!

I have used Payless a lot with no problems, however I look like a type A male.

Their shuttle takes you (other brand rental cars can follow) out the airport north entrance and left at the first light (Frontage Rd), under a mile to their office which is on the way to Disney. Leaving their lot be very careful not to go up the down staircase, er, out the in driveway with tire flattener spikes. Turn right instead of their suggested left. Less than a mile to light at Conway Rd., go left and left again to get on 528 (Beach Line) west.

Watch for "exit ramp" required to pay toll in cash, then continue on to I-4 west (southwest). Disney exits will be seen soon.

Returning to airport via I-4 East to 528 east, again watch for "exit ramp" to pay toll in cash. Get off 528 at its exit 9 (Tradeport). Left and cross under, nice cheap gas station on left to top off at. Then with gas station at your left, get into middle lane, required right onto McCoy. Payless is less than a mile on the left. (With other rental cars, continue less than a mile to 436 (Semoran) and turn right to enter airport.)

Typically car rentals are not locked like some hotels. You can cancel most without any charge. I use Southwest's website (car tab at top) and see all the rates. I then go to the individual car rental site and book through them. An extra $20-$30 to get a "better known" company and nothaving to take a shuttle is well worth it.
