Is it possible to put your server's tip on a gift card if you are on the dining plan and there is no extra charge for your meal (meaning that otherwise you wouldn't be using a gift card)? TIA!

We did this once, but I won't do it again. It was so hard to tell what we actually had left on the card. I will either tip on the room card and pay that off with a gift card at before the end of our stay or bring cash.

I don't like to carry cash.

Any time you use a gift card, the remaining balance is on the receipt so you should be able to tell right away how much is left on the card.

I am hoping to pay all of our tips with a gift card.

Quick question about tips....sorry if this is a little bit off topic....but, if you're on the DDP, do you get a ticket with your total bill, so that you know about what to tip, or are you left to count it up in your head?!?! Don't get me wrong...I can count it up...(I do teach math!:) )Thanks!

When we paid with a gift card we did not get a total with each reciept.

If you are on the DDP they will give you a slip with the tip all figured out.

We've always had the remaining balance on our reciept. :confused3 Maybe if you use the gift card for tips only it's done differently?

Has anyone here successfully used gift cards for tips at TS meals?

Think about when you pay a bill for food today. You get the bill and tack on the tip. We don't get a receipt for the tip. This is what we found at table service locations at WDW too.

When we used the card to make a merchandise purchase, it would list the total left.

I did successfully use a gift card for tips at WDW, I however, found it a hassle. You will probably be fine.

You're right. I didn't think about how the bill works with the tip when dining as receipts aren't given for the tip. Thanks for the info.
