I read that servers are not supposed to split checks when TiW is being used and the cardholder has to pay, correct?

What is the best means for my parents to pay for their portion of our meal? Can I hand the server my debit card along with a gift card and ask the gift card to be rung first? Or my mom suggested depositing money into my checking account to cover their meals? Can the server ring some on my debit card and some on a KTTW card?

How do you usually handle splitting the check? :confused3

When we had another couple staying with us, they just paid us afterwards for their portion of the bill. This allowed us to extend the benefit to them as well. We also had the ability to accept a credit card payment through my wife's home-based business making this quite a bit easier.

You can charge the whole thing to your KTTW card and then have your parents pay their portion of your room charges.

The official policy is a single check paid for by the TiW cardholder. Since a manager must approve the discount, they won't apply the discount to multiple checks. As long as the TiW cardholder is present, they will generally allow another person to pay the check.

What we did when we went with my parents is paid everything on the room charge, saved all the bills and DH did the math, then they just wrote us one check at the end. Because we ate together several times over the week this worked best for us.

We also met up with friends for a character meal and they just gave us the cash afterwards.

You did say your parents, right? How about running them a tab and they

give you a check. Do your parents have a habit of stiffing you?:lmao:

I would probably just settle up at the end of the trip. Save the receipts...split it half & half or mark who got what on the check at the time if you want it to be exact.

DSiL and I ate together in October. I have a TIW card and she does not. When the bill came, we figured out how much each of us owed. Then, we just put a mini-sticky note with the amount onto each of our cards before giving it back to the server. Sometimes we had gift cards, sometimes debit/credit cards and sometimes it was our KTTW card. The servers had no problems charging the correct amount to each card.

We're taking a trip in June with a total of four families traveling together. We have our food budget divided up between $25, $50 and $100 gift cards. The sticky notes are already packed in the luggage:goodvibes.

We dined with another family at 'Ohana in January and used our TiW discount. To pay, we just asked our server to split the total between two credit cards and he was happy to do so. This worked fine since both families had two adults and two kids so the cost was the same.

When we were at Disney the week after Easter, we used our TIW for every sit down meal. We just had the waiter split the check down the middle between two credit cards. It worked for us, and no one gave us a problem about it.

This sounds perfect. I think both we and the other family we're planning on travelling with will be using DDRDs for our dining so if we convert them to gift cards, then just have a sticky on each family's gift card it will work out perfectly. I hate the idea of having to settle up money at the end of a trip with friends. Thanks for the suggestion.

We have done this many times - one check, split between two credit cards. The server has never had any problem handling it this way. Have a great trip!

On the few occasions that we have had another family with us, we too have never had a problem with getting the check split.
