Paying with Disney gift cards

Hi!

My family has not been to Disney since 2023 and we are planning a trip for next summer. I've been buying $25 and $50 gift cards here and there to use for snacks and some counter service meals. Is there a way to pay with gift cards when ordering snacks/food using the mobile app? Ideally, I'd like to load them onto the app and then use them to pay, but I'm not sure if that is doable. If not, is there anyway to combine all the cards so I'm not taking so many cards on the trip?

Thanks!

The MDE app does not let you store a giftcard number on the app. You have to enter the card number for each transaction. What must people do is enter the card number into a note on your phone and then copy/paste the number when doing the mobile order.

Another suggestion: use the disneygiftcard.com site to combine those small $ giftcards onto a single card. That way you only have to track one number and one card. What I have done is buy a special card at a giftshop and transfer the value of those red Mickey cards to that. I've reused the same 3-4 cards for the past 15 or more years.

Just so you are aware, you can only have a maximum of $1,000 loaded on a gift card. If you have more than $1,000 in total value, you will need more than one card to combine them on. Also, when combining cards, you have to move the full balance. So if you have one $50 card and two cards with $975, you can’t split the $50 to make two $1,000 cards, nor can you put the entire $50 on one of the $975 cards without exceeding $1,000.

I always use a gift card for mobile ordering and, other than entering the card number each time, it’s very easy.

Im pretty sure the gift cards for the disney store has the scannable barcodes for the app. You can pay for meals like that, it's quicker than typing in codes every time but you do have to pull your card out to scan it. Castmembers can also use their scanners at registers for them as well instead of swiping it like a credit card.

I think they want to use mobile ordering. So you need to enter the GC number when checking out on the app. If ordering at a register, GC's can be scanned like a credit card.

I’m not sure how long this function has been available, but you can scan a gift card in the app now when mobile ordering as long as it has a barcode

Pro tip: find your most sturdy physical GC (a plastic one, not one "made with paper" that they sell in stores now) to store in your wallet for park use.

I had one "made with paper" and it got bent easily when put into my pocket for an hour--despite the mag strip not being damaged, it was impossible for CM's to swipe it, which led to them having to type in the card number to work. It was very annoying and just led to me charging to my magicband/room and using the card at the front desk before checkout to cover room charges.

Specifically, it has to be the style of barcode that looks kind of like a QR code, not a barcode that's just lines.

It should be scannable in the app for both mobile ordering food as well as mobile checkout for merchandise.
