Paying to upgrade on check in?

We booked a standard room at RP. If they have Club available on check in, what are the chances of upgrading to club. I would be willing to pay for the upgrade. I just wonder what they would charge. Is it discounted?

I would love to book club, but am torn on possibly paying rack rate. Also, my family enjoys the Island dining room for breakfast. So club wouldn't be worth it at full price.

If you feel you would be willing to pay a little more then it would be worth asking. I've asked in the past at other resorts; Disney and Universal and have been given different answers. I've been given upgraded for $25 dollars per night, to $150 per night. The best one I ever got was at the Wilderness Lodge during a slow time. At first they were going to charge me $60 per night, then the Cast Member came back and said "it's your lucky day, we are not going to charge you anything extra." They had a lot of rooms available in the Concierge section so upgrading us was not a big deal. Very exciting!

I would definately ask at check-in, but don't expect any discounts or you will be in for a let down.

It will totally depend on your current rate -- what kind of discount you booked your standard room with. If it's already heavily discounted, don't count on a bargain. We went at a dead time of the year (Jan. 27 - Feb. 1), with very low occupancy, and were still charged $100 a night to upgrade to club level. (And we had a water view room at RPR booked.)

Right now I'm paying rack rate unless a better deal comes along. I have an AP, AAA and am staying 6 nights. I noticed that this year's discounts for longer stays were very good. So maybe something will open up. I wouldn't want to pay $100 per night to upgrade, But I would be will to pay $50.

What kind of discount is usually givin to AP club rooms when booked in advance?

It will totally depend on your dates as to what discounts they're offering. You can check online on the Loews website. Just plug in APH for the AP rates or AAA for the AAA rates in the box that says "promotional code."

If you're going before Oct. 4, they are offering stay 3 nights, get the 4th free with AP. We used this and averaged $187 per night, RPR club level. Last late Oct., we paid $219 a night club level. When we upgraded at the desk, we got it for $229 a night. We normally book club level in advance, but if I remember correctly for that January trip, they did not release AP discounts for club level. That's why we upgraded at the desk.

Good luck!
