Paying the bill (ick)

I never travel on my Debit Card.

I have a Dismey Visa ( along with a couple other cards). I use it to pay on my stay and link it to my room. I use the points I earn to put on a Disney rewards card to pay for incidentals.

I do tend to cash flow so I don't ever carry balances but I figure using my cards for points then paying off the balance before interest is a win win situation.

I couldn't have done this when I was younger because I wasn't disciplined enough to track balances and pay things off to stay on budget., but now it's great.

I like having my trip paid for ahead of time. (I have a package this trip but pay most or all of my balance even on room only) yet even with my DV I have found Disney to be spotty with its ability to 'link' a card to your MDE account. It sometimes remembers but 80% of the time I have re-renter the info.

I almost never use gift cards because it ties up the money in such a way that if you did need to cancel you are stuck with gift cards and if you lose a gc you are in trouble because they will not transfer a refund to a new card only to the original.

Along this same line...I do fraud/forgery investigations. Not saying that WDW has thieves working at the resorts, but on a credit card, you are only liable for a certain amount of money...if you link a debit card, they can clean out your account. Not that that is going to happen, but use the CC as the card and pay down with the gift cards. Win-win situation for you.

This! This is why we use CC and not debit cards (not to mention racking up rewards:); as a PP said-once the charge shows up just transfer money to CC.
Friend had a fraudulent charge on her debit card from the Phillipines-her bank is working on it but will take ~2 months to get charges reversed-meanwhile she is out >$200. Same thing just happened to me-only mine was on CC-I'm out of no money, CC issuing new card, account on alert etc. FAR easier to deal with fraud on CC than debit card!
