Is it possible to get the Disney Visa $50 On Board Credit if I pay off some of my cruise with a Disney Gift card or Disney Reward points? I made initial payment with DV but have some gift cards I can apply to the balance. Not sure if I should just use the Gift cards (and/or the Reward cards) for on board expenses instead of paying off the cruise balance.

Also, I am reading that this is a "beverage" credit now, not just a flat ON Board Credit? Is that true?

Sorry we haven't cruised in about 2.5 years on DCL and now I'm a bit confused on whether we can use the Disney Visa code anymore. We do not have any other discount codes on this cruise (ie a 10% off from a previous cruise).

Thanks for any information.

My understanding is that you can still get the $50 OBC for beverages if you pay a portion of the cruise fare with your Disney Rewards points, but I have never tested that. It might be worth the call to DCL to ask.

I do know that you can't get the $50 OBC if you pay a portion of the fare with Disney gift cards. I find that I get more than $50 benefit by buying gift cards that give me fuel discounts and/or through Target so it makes sense for me to not worry about the Disney Visa OBC and use all gift cards.

Thank you. I currently am trying to work towards paying off my DD School trip to Disney by buying grocery cards from the school and they give us the percentage saved from the Grocery store towards paying down my Daughters trip. I thought it might be beneficial to buy the Grocery cards to buy Disney Gift Cards and pay down the balance on our upcoming cruise. It will work out better I guess to do this than getting the $50 beverage credit. Was just confirming I cant do both by paying off the cruise with a combination of Gift cards and my Disney Visa.

However I wonder if I use my Rewards Card to pay off the balance if that counts against getting the $50 credit. Since those are from Disney Visa. I guess I need to call DCL but I'm always unsure if we can get the best information from those CMs.

The $50 beverage credit (yes, it's "beverage only") is only if you pay off the entire cruise (reservation) with the Disney Visa. I'd suggest using your gift cards to apply to your onboard account once you board.

Depending on how much you save through the school to use those cards to buy Disney Gift cards, it may give you back more than $50. But, some stores do not let you buy gift cards with gift cards (too close to money laundering), so that's something you may want to check out ahead of time.

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. I can simply bring the gift cards for the On board balances I'll rack up and then anything left over we can use at Disney World when my DD goes on her trip in the spring!
The only thing I'm not sure about now is if the Disney Rewards card counts as a Disney Visa payment. I seem to remember it did previously but things are more difficult now.

The Beverage only is for any kind of drink right? Can we use it on Wine Tastings or anything like that? Soda is still free on DCL right? The ships still have drink stations on Deck 9 right? (we are on Wonder next trip)
Thank you!

MSidescooter, I have verified and actually bought some from our grocery store (safeway). I can also buy Southwest gift cards as well so I'm trying to milk the system right now! Thanks for the advice!

We did pay for about half of our cruise with a disney visa and did not get an on board credit. But we did not enter a code either. I.e. we did not know what we were doing. For our upcoming cruise, we have made sure to pay it all with disney visa, but we did not enter a code. Does that matter?

Yes...this is what I was told when we PIF with our Disney Visa. They added the $50 beverage credit.

You need to call DCL to have them put the code in.
