Standing in line at our local pharmacy I heard "Bob" explaining to an elderly lady that she HAD to buy take her blood pressure medicine even though it was quite expensive. She counted out cash, including change, and he counted out enough pills to get her through the next four days, rather than the full 30 day supply.
I caught his eye, waving my stashed $20. He got a big smile on his face and said "I think there might be a special sale on that right now, let me check."
She got her meds. The relief and joy on her face was priceless.
After she left the area, I gave him some additional cash and we agreed that her meds would still be on special sale when she came for her next refill.
Money is tight at our house, but I LOVE keeping a few extra bucks on hand so that when that unique opportunity crosses my path, I have the ability to respond.
