Hi,
We currently have a cat 11 for an oct 4 western and it looks lDisney currently has most categories available to book although each cat is in guarantee status. Does this type of availability make it likely that there will be some oceanviews to upgrade to once we board? I know that Disney ships usually sell out but I thought that since there were so many rooms available 1 1/2 months out we might get lucky. Also, does anyone know how much they might charge to upgrade from an 11 to 9 or 8 or even a balcony?

No clue on the cost - but the key is to get to the port early for check-in. When you arrive at the port, they'll have a sign out if there are no upgrades available, or you can ask to be directed to the right place in line to find out about paying for upgrades. Check-in can start as early as 10:30 - so if 3 or 4 days out they are still showing staterooms available, I'd get there in that first group to have the best chance.

Great, thank you. Our flight gets in around 9 so hopefully we'll be able to get on the bus quickly and get there by 10:30.

We cruised on the Magic October 13, 2001, just one month after "9-11". There were many cancellations. We reserved a cat 10 (FL resident special). When were arrived at the terminal, I asked if there were any veranda rooms available. We were able to upgrade for $350 rather than the original quote of $1050. So it was a substantial savings to take the chance.

Good luck

That's wonderful. I had called Disney and asked what the price would be in the event that rooms were available and they said the difference between what I paid and what the upgraded cabin cost at the time of sailing. I thought I had heard you could get better deals like you did.
