Paying for TS with a Giftcard?

On our next trip, I wanted to pay for everyone's meal at one of our ADR's as a sort of Christmas present. However, knowing my group, once I say "I'm paying for dinner," it becomes a huge issue, and they'd refuse to let me pay.

Instead, I wanted to get a gift card for about what a meal would cost, put it in a card signed by a Disney character (Lilo and Stitch for Ohana, Lady and the Tramp for Tony's, etc.) and have the card say something along the lines of "Come have dinner with us!". (Cheesey, right?) Anyway, it would help make things a bit easier.

Anyway, could I pay for a TS meal with a gift card? Would I be able to pay gratuity with a gift card? Thanks for any help!

Yes. We took our adult children and their families earlier this year. We got them gift cards for the meals where they would be dining on their own; they used them for the meals and gratuities.

What a nice treat for everyone! You could also let the CM know you would like to pick up the check and excuse yourself from the table when the time comes to take care of it to make it easier for you.

We go to Disney World with Visa gift cards and use them for everything, including table service meals.

I would caution you not to sign the backs of the cards with a cute name. Some Cast Members are confused with the gift card and will think it's a credit card. They will automatically look on the back for a signature. I'd suggest leaving the signature line blank (that's what we do) and maybe just put the cards in cute envelopes instead.

Those restaurants shouldn't be any different from any other restaurant in or outside of Disney World. You can use Visa gift cards just about anywhere. We use them at Red Lobster, Chili's etc. too.
