Paying for Fastpass?

Did anyone else read the update yesterday on miceage about a rumor that Disneyland Paris is offering the chance to guests staying at their onsite hotels to buy a "vip" unlimited fastpass? They say the price is around 100 euros. Would you all like to see something similar at our Disneyland? Most people on that board were upset by it thinking it was just one step closer to Disney charging for all fastpasses.

I think paying is a bad idea. People pay enough to go visit the parks already but more importantly I feel the attractions should be equal opportunity and not just for who has the most money. Universal and Magic Mountain offer such passes for a price. Their price is absurdly high enough to prevent very many from purchasing. They also limit how many are sold. None the less it adds to lines for non-payers and reduces the number of fastpasses available to others. Make a quick buck and tick off the paying masses! Not a good idea.

When I went to IOA for the first time, I kind of liked the idea that I can pay like $20 (at the time, I've heard it went up to like $50), ride all the rides I want to quickly and enjoy the rest of my day.

I like how Disney is fair and open to everyone evenly, and you have to use a strategy to maximize your fast passes. The first time I went to Disney World as an adult I used my first fast pass for Buzz Lightyear Ranger Spin with a 15 minute wait, then I went to get one at space mountain too

I hope they don't.....I really hope they don't. It will make it harder for those of us who go regularly.....seems very unfair to those of us who pay extra to have a Premium AP so we can make regular weekend visits.......

The only problem is that it has diluted the perk of staying onsite at Universal since you can pay a price for an unlimited front of the line pass. I think it's enough that Disney offers certain fast passes for free. If they start offering them for a price it will dilute the perk of getting one at a time for free, the fast pass line will be long and arduous, which will defeat the purpose of a fast pass.

Just my 2 cents.

I find it would be like eating at BB. Some will pay the price, but I think the majority will not. Just look at the regular lines during busy times. How to use the FP system is well talked about, but it looks like many do not choose to do so. Will be people boycott by not going, I do not think so. Make more money for Disney, YES.

I hope they don't do this at Disneyland. I wouldn't pay for it. I like the fastpass system for the most part the way it is.

Sure people that have the extra money love to not have to wait in long lines. Trouble is thats at the expense of those that can't afford it to wait even longer. I do not like the idea of wait times being equated with who has the most money.

(I believe the last time I heard it discussed was about 18 months ago) the FP was going to be available ONLY to people staying at the Deluxe Resorts. In other words, it was going to futher create classes of visitors.

I know the folks staying at the 3 Disney hotels in Anaheim do get the early entry perk, but other than that, there isn't the sort of elitism that goes on at WDW...(for example, one night we saw half a dozen busses for the Grand Floridian and our bus never showed up...the driver for Pop Century finally took pity on the other Value guests and took us all on his bus.)

It seems to me that offering the FP to everyone, especially if it were at a low cost, would only defeat the purpose of fast passes. Unless it is offered only to guests at their hotel. That makes perfect sense in the world of commerce, but it rankles me when Disney so obviously creates classes of visitors.

I guess I'd dislike it less if it were simply offered at an ungodly high price. At least then I could laugh at the folks who I categorize as having more money than brains!

In short, I think it's a bad idea any way they approach it.

It's not a "rumor."

If you stay on certain levels at the DLP resorts, you get unlimited Fastpasses. You do not pay extra for the Fastpasses, they come as a perk for staying in the highest-level concierge rooms at the resort. I did it last summer, it's a great perk.

I already figured that were classes of visitors. Look at the prices of accomadations, the closer the more$$$. It was my understanding the onsite folks got first shot at the monorail,packages shipped back to and charged to their rooms, extra day at MM, etc.
Some folks will always have unlimited spending $$$, some will save like crazy to stay on site or eat at SH55, NR, the BB or club 33!!!
There would be no point to sell the FP's at a lower obtainable price! We got dreamed with the Dream FP and it was nice, more so later in the day. And I have read no where Disney states that they will be across the board "fair" to everyone. It is a business with shareholders!!!

Yes, but might make it more fair for those who can only go once a year like us. Who only have a few days to see everything, and are dealing with huge crowds of locals, there is no next weekend for tourists.

I'm still not for having to pay for them though. I think people pay enough to go there as it is.

I was talking to a co-worker about Disneyland and he actually was under the impression that you already COULD pay for FastPasses in DL.

I would not like the idea of paying for Fastpasses at all. I would actually rather that tourists were given a free Fastpass or two as a perk with their tickets and Magic Morning--some of them need to learn how to use them, after all.

New rides at DL don't seem to have FPs, so if this WERE implemented, it might give free FPs to any ride, not just ones that offer FPs.

I personally don't think it's too likely, but if they start it at WDW then I'd look out. If it WERE implemented I am sure that Disney would try to balance it, though, so that it would have minimal effects on people who don't pay.

Maybe a perks pass would work based up the mileage you have to travel to get to the parks. Picture ID with address along with reservation slip from where you are staying(the higher the room rate, the more perks because you are spending more money). Comps like Vegas.

I would think with how lax DLR has become with their fastpass return times, they obviously want people to use their fast passes. I don't think a pay for fast pass will be implemented at DLR anytime soon

I think it would be neat if the made them available, as long as the price wasn't too outrageous. It would really make it a dream trip to know you were going to be able to get on every ride and not have to always skip something because of unbearably long lines.

We have a pay system here in San Antonio at both our Seaworld AND Six Flags Fiesta Texas. It is expensive IMHO. It's about $50 per person. I mentioned on a thread circulating a few weeks ago, I truly believe that Disney has been watching to see how that works at the other parks before they start implimenting it in the Disney parks. I think it's only a matter of time.

I wouldnt pay for fast pass at all i think it would ruin the disneyland experience.

A lot of ppl scrimp and save all their pennies to visit DL for that wonderful experience and then on top of the money to travel and stay then you have to pay for a right you currently receive as part of your admission price - i dont think a lot of ppl would take up the offer especially if they were large families.

I find part of the experience is waiting in line (fastpass or not) and the anticipation of not knowing to expect or on the other hand what you know your going to get.

I think the system should stay the way it as and readily avaliable to everyone free of charge.

I did take my wife to DLP a few years ago (a big birthday celebration without kids). The concierge level included the unlimited fastpass (which was really not a big deal, given that we never waited in line anyways). Sounds like it's an extension of what they're already doing, or maybe they're becoming more airline like and charging for every little item

It's nu rumor. Every one can buy VIP fast passes in Paris for 100 Euro per day per person.
There testing this system.


In the past all guests that booked concierge level or a suite received them. Now the plans are that only guests of the Disney Land hotel will get them on CL and the suites.
All the others will have to buy them.
