Paying for daily housekeeping

We have rented points for a 5-night stay at a One Bedroom at VGF.

This is a special trip and one of the things I really enjoy about vacations is coming back to a nice cleaned hotel room, not having to make the bed etc. The thought of having to empty the trash, make the bed, clean the bathroom is making me feel that paying the fee for housekeeping will be worth it. We are also towel snobs and I like to have fresh towels every day.

How do I add the daily housekeeping - at check-in? What is the cost? Is the standard/quality of the housekeeping the same as at the hotel, i.e. they will refresh towels/shampoo etc. too?

Thanks for any info!

Housekeeping gives you full cleaning and replenishment of any items (assuming the particular housekeeper does not blow it which has been known to occur). Our experience with ordering housekeeping is that the only way to get it is call housekeeping when you get to the room and order it. Then next morning call housekeeping again to make sure they know that you ordered it yesterday (trust me they usually do not).

You could order it before you go through MS or order it at front desk when you arrive, but we have invariably found that those orders apparently never sink in at housekeeping and you should still do those two phone calls to housekeeping after you get to your room.

The cost for a 1BR is $45 per day and you need to have a credit card on file as part of check-in so they can charge it to the room. Note, you can order any number of days you want and do not have to get it for every day you are there.

We find daily cleaning overkill and your room has a washer and dryer so we can wash towels if we need them. You can also just ask a housekeeper for some extra towels or buy a towel pack.

You will also get towels and supplies on day 4 of your stay with day 1 being your check in day.

You may want to consider daily trash & towel, much cheaper than full cleanings. $20 in a 1 bedroom.

How many people will be staying in the room? There will be at least 6 and maybe 8 bath towels so if there are just two of you in the room, you will have a fresh bath towel every day for at least 3 days and you will get fresh towels on day 4. Making the bed is simple now that there are no bedspreads. We just stayed in a VGF 1BR and I made the bed every morning. It took all of a minute each morning. It wasn't as neatly done as housekeeping does it, but I prefer doing it myself to having housekeeping in my room every day. DH took the trash to the trash room as needed. It took less than 5 minutes each time. If you have never experienced the freedom of not having housekeeping in your room every day, you might want to give it a try and see how you like it.

If you must have clean sheets each day then pay the fee and be prepared to talk to housekeeping every morning to be sure you are on the schedule, and even then, don't be surprised if your room is skipped. One trip (at BWV, not VGF) I requested to push back our full cleaning day by one day. End result: they skipped us on the new day and even after many phone calls, it took another day and a half before someone turned up and even then, they just did Trash and Towel, they didn't change the sheets. Another call and they finally did the full cleaning. It was such a hassle I will never change my service dates again or schedule additional cleanings. I don't want to be calling housekeeping multiple times a day while I'm on vacation.

One of my favorite things is NOT having housekeeping barging in on me during a stay. We just got back from the VGF for 5 nights. I'd rather put the $250 toward a really nice meal at Citrico's or Narcoosees. The place won't get that dirty, and as another person said, there are a ton of towel sets in a one bedroom -- toiletries, too. You will also get a Trash and Towel service on day 4. Since the bed is basically just sheets with a bedscarf, it takes about 30 seconds to make.

Looks like prices have gone up on the "Pay as you play" packs. A towel pack is now $10.00.

I’m curious how they are at giving you what you need at check in. For example, I’m a total washcloth user and like two Clean ones daily. Towels are fine to reuse, but I need a stack of washcloths!

This is from 2016. I’m sure the prices have gone up :)....
