I know wine and such are not included in the plan but how does that work? Do I get a seperate bill and then tip on that? I'm assuming I could just charge it back to my room?

I know this sounds silly but I just like to be completely prepared. I'm probably NOT going to be drinking at all this trip as its just with my DD6 but hey after a long day at the park and all the princesses I may need a nice smooth Cab! Besides if DD sees a glowing ice cube drink I know I'll cave and buy her one too. The glowing drink that is, not the wine!

You get a separate bill for the drink. You can pay with cash or charge back to your room. I ordered 1 drink when we went and I did tip on the drink.

At Boma, the tip was added to the extra bill already. Just look at it closely or you'll end up tipping 36% on your glass of wine! :o)

Oooo - anyone else notice an automatic tip being added on lately to the drink bill? We are headed down in a few weeks and usually have a drink with dinner. I also thought that would be our opportunity to tip extra if we wanted to do so (DH is a generous tipper.)

We will order seperate drinks and use the DDE card. |if they add the tip on automtially they will be short changing themselves as we will tip 20% or more if it is not, but as a small party I feel we should be able to choose what to tip, so if the 18% is added on that is all they will get.

We were there last month and were also on the DDP. We ordered alcoholic drinks at WCC and Boma and both times, the tip WAS already included. It was 18%...I didnt catch on the first time and added another 20%, but the second time, I didnt add anything extra. It wasnt til later (when I looked at the receipts) that I noticed it. So definitely check it out!

WOW. Thanks for very good information. I usually have more than one drink and would not notice the tip already on the bill (because of the drinks). You're the best!

Same thing here...Boma automatically added the tip. Actually, in my case I would have tipped our server less as she cleared our drinks when they were only half empty!
Other places didn't add the tip automatically and as others wrote it was to the servers advantage as we tipped much more generously than 18%.
I hate when they add the tip automatically. I think it is rude.
Be sure and check your bill before you add a tip ;)

Everywhere I ordered a drink the 18% was already added, both in July and December as well. One or both of us had alcohol at the following:
Concourse Steakhouse
Le Cellier
'Ohana
Cap'n Jacks (back in Dec.)
Spoodles
Mama Melrose's
Coral Reef

They'd get a bigger tip from me if they didn't add the gratuity automatically, but whatever. If the service was good I left a bit more, but average service was left with the 18%. In December I didn't realize this and added an additional 20% so she ended up with a 38% tip on what I thought were seriously expensive drinks!-- Incidentally, she also circled the tip spot in red and put an x next to the siggy spot, so I didn't even entertain the thought that the tip was already added. Check those reciepts!

Every place we ordered an alcoholic drink from last year added 18% automatically.

Wow, that's really good info to know. Now I don't know if this happens at Disney or not but I know sometimes when you sit at the bar, you are not given a bill, they just tell you the amount you owe. Does anyone know if that's the case in Disney?? :drinking1

Yes, I did it too, added tip for liquer first time. Then saw that they already added the 18%

We ran into the automatic tip problem last year as well and not just with alcoholic drinks. I didn't realize till half way thru our trip that a tip was already added on on some of our OOP meals. Some severs ended up with really nice tips on orders of chicken nuggets and french fries :rotfl2:

I don't think the servers add the tip on - I think the system automatically does (but I may be mistaken :confused3 )

Damn! We're eating at almost all of these places. Thanks........ Great advice! I may be a drunk, but not necessarily a stupid drunk!

Wow, did it say that they would be adding the gratuity anywhere on the menu, did the waiter tell you, or is it posted when you walk into the restaurant? I know it's added most places for groups of eight or more and stated in the menu, we were informed of the 10% at PM, and I know it is stated several places in regard to the DP, but I've never seen it elsewhere in regard to alcohol orders. Personally I'd be pretty PO'd if I ordered, ate/drank, and received my bill to find out after the fact that the gratuity was added without my being told prior. if it was not listed in the menu or posted at the host desk, I would expect the waiter would have to tell you, wouldn't they?

Nope. Boma (last week) didn't mention it and there wasn't a menu. DH just happened to notice when we got the bill. This year we had drinks at Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Ohana, Kona Cafe in addtion to Boma and none of those added the tip automatically, BUT the server made it a point to tell us that the tip was already included in the DDP but not in the seperate bill for the drinks. I'm fussy, I suppose, and felt it impolite to so blatantly point it out, but my guess is they must be getting stiffed on tips for the seperate checks :confused3
It seems that last year other places did go ahead and add the auto gratuity. I specifically remember Ohana did.
Just always check the bill. It is seperated and shown clearly as an added gratuity, you just have to look over the bill more closely than you might normally.
