Paying Cash For A DVC Room

We are planning a trip to Disney World next year...We have more than enough points for what we (meaning DH and the kids) want to do...Now my DH parents want to come...

Can I book them a studio paying cash for the same night we are going using our membership number? They will give us the money for the room we book for them...Also, I assume the same rules aplply with the booking at the 11 months or 7 months when you are booking with cash...Am I correct?

Making cash reservations for DVC Villas may be done 11 months in advance - based on availability. There is no home-resort priority for cash reservations, but all dates are available using cash - especially with the DVC member discount. MS first priority is to make reservations using DVC points but, for dates which have historically not been needed for point reservations and when current reservation status indicates that villas will go unreserved, MS can open them up for cash reservations - sometimes with the 25% discount.

At times, this will not happen until within 6 months of arrival and sometimes discounted cash reservations are available right at 11 months (and sometimes, villas will never be available for cash reservations thru MS).

When you know what you will need and within 11 months it can't hurt to call MS and see what's available.

I have been able to book DVC cash discount rooms twice now - but for ourselves, not to give to others (I don't know how that would work). Anyway, I got a studio at VWL for MLK weekend '08 in very late Aug. of '07 (so around 5 mo. out). And I was able to get a Value Studio at AKV last Oct. for July of this year (that one took 3 calls about a week or two apart to find availability). Last month I tried to check cash availability for spring break of next year and was told the rooms hadn't been released yet. I called right after the new price schedules had been released...I am assuming I just called too early since the dates / prices had just been released. We've gone ahead in the meantime and made other plans for January so now we can't go so I stopped checking...

In the past, you could only get the member discount for a room that the member was staying in.
