I will be staying offsite for the first time in August. I usually just charge everything to my room key and don't carry much cash at all. Will I be able to use a credit card at all of these places that allowed me to charge to my room (ie counter service, souveneirs, etc)? I know the sit down restaurants will take credit cards but I don't know about the smaller food outlets. For instance, can I charge my dole whips to my credit card?

You can use a credit card anywhere you can use a room key.

just be careful when you use a credit card at wdw with the receipt. the last time we went they were printing out the whole credit card number (with no xxxx's) on the reciept with the expiration date and your name, so if someone got a hold of the reciept...

caitycaity, that's really scary that they would do that! I'm nearly positive that they've stopped now, and do XXXX for all but the last four digits...I looked at a couple of my receipts, and they were good, and I also heard some people in Guest Relations talking about how they were a little sad they didn't have the whole things on them anymore, as then if they found someone's purchases, they could return them based upon the information found on the receipt, which could locate the owner. So...Good that they don't show the whole number, but a little sad too.

apparently that CM did not know that you can do a print out of all the cards used on any particular machine or store. The entire number is stored in the machine, so, it would be possible to find the person. The print out only shows the last 4 numbers and the expiration date. That little feature saved me much trouble many times when balancing at night.

Luckily, many/most places now require the 3 digit number found on the back of the card in the signature line right after the last 4 digits of your account number for purchases made via the phone or the internet. And....few places will accept a receipt without an id to use the card number.

You can also take a pen and block out the number (on both sides of the receipt) after a purchase.

Also, it's of small consolation, but....

With most major (and these days, minor) banks, you are only responsible for the first $50 of a fraudulent charge.

And to the OP, unfortunately WDW will take your credit card for anything from a $2.50 coke to a $3,000 vanity Mickey item. Never have I found them lacking in ways to facilitate transference of my money to them!

I have to agree with Pat, they love plastic, and will bend over backward to accept it.;)
