Not sure if this is the right place for this question but my father-in-law wants to pay off the balance of their vacation with a check rather than put it on a credit card since it would almost max out the card.

Has anyone ever done this and what is the address that you need to mail the payment to? What needs to be included with the payment? I tried to search but didn't come up with anything and figured I would try here first with someone who has done it before calling Disney TA.

Thanks........

Final Payment may be made by phone or online with a valid credit card, or check payments may be mailed to Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc., P.O. Box 409668, Atlanta, Ga 30384-9668. Please include the client file number on check.

I assume, the client file number is the reservation number?

Another idea would be to pay it off with the credit card and then send a payment into the credit card company. Not sure if his card gives him any perks but if it did he would get them and by paying it right off it would leave him with the same amount of credit left on his credit card.

Yeah, we are looking at some options. He just applied for a Disney visa that will arrive in 2 weeks. Our balance due date is coming up and he just wants to make sure the card is free and clear before our Oct. trip so that's why he's thinking of sending in a check.

I can't remember how many points you get per $ you spend with the Disney card. Is it 1 pt per every $10 or $100?

I would not send a check if you can help it. We tried that last year and it was a big mess. The checks go to a lockbox that is rarely checked. It took weeks for them to find the check and get it credited. I agree with pp, use a credit card and then send the check to pay it off.

Yikes, that is awful.
I always put my downpayment on my cc and then every other payment is made by check. Actually I just wrote my final payment last Thursday and sent it off. As of this morning it had been credited to my account.
Sorry you had a bad experience. I'll keep that in mind next time.

OP--- the address I send my payment to is a lockbox in Chicago. I don't know why it is different than the Atlanta address? Did you receive a paper statement when you reserved? I got one and the address to send payments is on the back.

we send a money order registered mail from canada, that way someone has to physically receive it

Interesting, you would think they would check it everyday.

So what is the correct address for payment? Not sure if they did or didn't I know they should of gotten the usual welcome packet, is the address on that?

That's always a good idea.

I would just put it on the CC and send the payment right away. So much easier that way, plus perks if the card has any.

Put it on the credit card.

Then if not already done, set up the credit card's online account. Log in, pay the bill (from the appropriate checking account). The payment will clear in just a couple of days at most. And you'll be able to log in again and verify the available credit before leaving for the vacation.

:thumbsup2

I would be leery of sending a money order. If it should get lost in the mail then tracking it down would be cumbersome and involve fees.
