hi-

do most of you pay your annual dues in one lump sum or spread them out with payments deducted each month? it seems like it makes more financial sense to just pay it at the end of the year, what do you think?!?!

thanks.

IMHO, it's a matter of personal preference.

Most who pay in one lump sum (like us) probably do so with a credit card to get the reward points. Some also want to avoid the auto debit from a checking account (I hate that, myself).

If it weren't for those two reasons, I'd go monthly. If interest rates continue to rise, I may change to monthly anyway. Disney doesn't charge us anything to pay monthly.

Best wishes -

I pay mine monthly directly from my checking account.

Works for us! :)

I pay mine monthly now, as Disney does not charge interest. IIRC, the options are beginning of the year or monthly. I don't hink you can pay end of the year. Next year, however, I'm going to use my rewards $.

We get them deducted from our checking account monthly. I like it that way because it is so easy. I don't have to do anything.

We paid lump sum for many years, but all of our real estate taxes (on our real home) were also due in January. When the "real world" taxes went up, it just made it easier to have Disney deduct DVC dues monthly since neither Disney nor our bank any fees.

Just do whatever works best for you.

We pay one lump sum in January - one call and put it on my Disney Visa - I do this to get my rewards - sometimes I don't even wait for the bill to come - I wait a few days and go to the bank to pay it off.

End of the year is not an option. Dues must either be paid monthly by automatic withdrawal, or in a lump sum at the beginning of each year (by January 15, but I think there's a grace period of a month). There is no discount for paying up front.

So from a strictly financial sense, it makes the most sense to pay monthly so you can continue to earn interest on the unpaid balance.

However, as has been mentioned, I prefer to charge dues on my Disney Visa and earn the 1% in reward points, effectively getting a 1% discount for paying in a lump sum. As long as interest rates on bank accounts are so low, there's no great loss of accrued interest.

we do monthly from our checking account. I like having it in our monthly budget.
