Pay to park?

The answer is probably here somewhere, but it wasn't on the first two pages of threads that I could see, so....

If you're staying onsite, can you drive and park at other resorts without paying to park at that resort? I know we have a parking tag for our own resort, but wasn't sure if it allowed you into the others.

Thanks!

You would have the same parking privileges/restrictions as any other guest who wasn't staying at that resort.

Depends on the time of year. Some of the deluxe resorts shut down their parking to non-hotel guests if there is something big going on. BW does this a lot on weekends during Food and Wine weekends, for instance.
Most times, you're allowed to park at a resort you aren't staying at. But keep in mind that parking is not for park access.

If you have a dining reservation say at that other resort than yes you can park there. Otherwise resort parking is now restricted to guests of that resort and those with dining reservations at that resort.

Thank you! That answers my question perfectly.

Can someone tell me what I will need to have handy to prove that I'm a resort guest eligible for free parking at the parks?

When checking in at the resort you are staying at they will give you a parking pass to lay up on the dash by your windshield, as soon as the employee at the parking booth sees it he just waves you through. The pass will have the date from your check-in date until your checkout date.

I'm seeing more and more MBs being scanned at the park entrances.

What if you are staying at a nearby offsite resort and just want to drive over to say Caribbean Beach resort or possibly Animal Kingdom Lodge one morning for breakfast (for Mickey waffles!)? Are you still allowed to do that? I obviously won't have a dining reservation to show. I've done it in the past, but it's been a while. Want to make sure nothing has changed.

Nope you will need an ADR or would have to be a guest at that resort. They have cut way down on it.

When we went to the Beach Club to eat last week, they still scanned our band to confirm our reservation. We were onsite guests with a parking pass on the dashboard.

I'm very surprised if they are no longer allowing people to come and look around the resort (to decide on a future stay) and/or eat at the quick service. This has always been allowed in the past. Are we sure it's no longer allowed? It's very disappointing if that's the case. :(

I can't see them not allowing people to look around. Perhaps they would be directed to park elsewhere or limit the number of guest cars.

It will always be on a case-by-case basis. They won't let folks "just look around" at the monorail or International Gateway resorts. But I doubt they'd have a problem at Caribbean Beach.

That is no longer true. I was there in May 2015 and did NOT receive a paper pass to put in the car. They scanned one of our MagicBands on the way into the parks. It only worked about half the time, but they always let us through anyway. Maybe the scanners work better now than they used to.
