Our daughter will be 10 for our next trip and she will likely still want to eat kid's meals. Is it possible for us to pay OOP for her to get a kid's meal while the rest of us use the DDP and then DH and I can use her adult credits for other meals?

Thanks for any help:)

I was just about to ask this same question but then I found my answer here! Thanks

What a great idea! Then, I won't be so mad when we go to one of the nicer restaurants and he wants to order the kids meal! There's nothing like paying the same for the dining plan and we get a $30 entree and he gets mac n cheese!

Hmm .. that seems like it might work for us too. Greaaaat another option to throw into the mix .. LOL ..

Thanks for the information though ... Cheers.

yes as long as you are paying for her credits...its fine. If it is free dining...then all the better to pay oop..then you can use her credits for more sit downs. of course, be sure to tell your server when you are ordering.

Hmmm, that's an interesting idea. I wonder if, for CRT, we could pay out of pocket for DH's meal and use DDP for me and the kids so this way we can use the extra two adult credits for another meal.

Yes you can. Just let them know when you get there.

This may be the way we want to go too, since my DD will still be 10 on our trip next year. She'll more than likely want to eat a child's meal or from the child's buffet.

I'm pretty sure that for buffets they will have to pay the adult rate regardless because that goes by age and it's the same food for everyone. That is what is making me be a bit more choosy about our buffets this trip:)

Yeup.. You're right. It goes by age for the buffets.

I wish my DS10 was a light eater - ugh! He's been eating full size meals for the past year and a half. (Offensive linemen and Nose gaurd in foot ball, 135lbs @ 5' or so :scared1:) That's one big appetite!!!!

I just wanted to thank the OP. Because of your question, I talked hubby into Narcoossee's for one night! :thumbsup2

Good to hear, DD will be 10 when we go but is beyond fussy when it comes to eating out.

We did just that on our recent trip (returned 4 days ago). We didn't do it for every meal - but especially if our small 11 yo dd wasn't very hungry, or didn't see anything on the adult menu she wanted.

We did 3 signature meals (a special treat for dh) so we would have been short on TS credits. One time dd ate off the kids menu (salmon at California Grill - plus we ordered sushi to pay oop), one time she and I shared a meal, and we ordered an appetizer oop(at Jiko) and one time she ate her own full adult meal (Flying Fish).

This is a great idea!! We are a family of 5, with kids ages 12, 10 and 8. They are not big eaters so with some careful planning and flexibility, this will make our meal credits go a long way!!! :cool1:

So, let me get this straight...once the child is 10, you pay for the adult DDP, right? So, when you go to the restaurant, they are not allowed to order from the kids menu? Why does it matter if it's already paid for? Or, can they order from the kids' menu, but you are saying to save their credit to go towards a sig. meal? I'm so confused...and my kids eat very little so my head hurts trying to figure this out. HELP!!

DD10 and I did a lot of splitting. But she isn't a picky eater. It was too much food for me to eat on my own and seemed just right if I gave her a portion. Of course this wasn't an option at buffets. It kept us from paying as little OOP as possible. :)

They usually allow them to order off the kid's menu. An adult can order off the kid's menu but it isn't a great value because they take a full adult credit off your dining points unless you pay out of pocket.
