Paula Dean

Amanda,

OT-Your pic of your beloved puppy really touched me, what a sweetie. I didn't even know her and I miss her. Bless her heart.:lovestruc

Thank you, she was very special to us and we miss her so much. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about her. :sad1:

Bobby and Jamie Dean talk about sexy. They can cook for me anytime.

Thanks! I just looked it up online, and it does look really good. (posting below) I'll have to send this to my mom...she grows a ton of tomatos every summer.

Tomato Pie

4 tomatoes, peeled and sliced
10 fresh basil leaves, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1 (9-inch) prebaked deep dish pie shell
1 cup grated mozzarella
1 cup grated cheddar
1 cup mayonnaise
Salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Place the tomatoes in a colander in the sink in 1 layer. Sprinkle with salt and allow to drain for 10 minutes.

Layer the tomato slices, basil, and onion in pie shell. Season with salt and pepper. Combine the grated cheeses and mayonnaise together. Spread mixture on top of the tomatoes and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.

To serve, cut into slices and serve warm.

I have been making this for years but I do not use onion. I like dried basil instead of fresh though.

Paula Deen's cute. Her recipes are good, the ones I've tried.

But my mother is from Alabama and down there they don't say "y'all" every other sentence. Do they do that in Georgia or is she just doing up the Southern thing?

Oh honey, I'm from southern Alabama and I say ya'll three times in one sentence without even realizing it. My dh points that out to me all the time. Trust me it is not over exaggerated in the least. Im told I sound just like her

I adore Paula Dean!
I think every ounce of her is sincere! My realtor sounds EXACTLY like her. I saw her this week and got up the nerve to ask her if anyone had ever told her this and she gave a big Paula laugh and said yes, all the time-not only my voice, my laugh, but my personality too. Honestly, I think they were separated at birth! LOL

I have also made her tomato pie. It was wonderful! I make several of her dishes. I think 2 sticks of butter makes anything good! LOL

I'm from Louisiana and try not to say "y'all" - it's impossible for me! It's just part of my vocabulary, y'all. What can I say? :)

I think southern accents are cute though. Now I do mean southern accents, not dumb dumb hick accents. There's a difference. ;)

I was watching last night and saw her make the recipe below. OMG. I think I gained 5 pounds just watching her make it.

Frozen Hot Chocolate

3 ounces best-quality chocolate (or a variety of your favorites)
2 teaspoons store bought hot chocolate mix (recommended: Serendipity Frozen Hot Chocolate Mix)
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
3 cups ice
Whipped cream, for garnish
Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Chop the chocolate into small pieces and melt in a small heavy saucepan or in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted. Add the hot chocolate mix and sugar, stirring constantly until blended.
Remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of the milk, stirring until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

In a blender, place the remaining 1 cup of milk, the chocolate mixture, and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant goblet and top with whipped cram and chocolate shavings.

What?! No butter?! I think I will try it anyway!! Sounds delicious! I wonder how many WW points are in it?? :lmao:

I do like her cooking show where she is in the kitchen.

And, I actually enjoyed her special where she travelled to Paris. But since my mom pointed out how much Paula cackles I can't help but notice it all the time! Her show Paula's Party drives me nuts with all the cackling. Maybe it was cute the first time she fed a male audience member but that has gotten really old.

Love her sons!

I was at a business function and was sitting at a table with about 8 men all in their mid 50's and older. The liquor was flowing pretty heavy and one of the men stated talking about Paula Deen. Next thing you know the whole table of men were talking about her and how that would be the kind of woman they would marry if they were to marry again!! I was shocked!! I figured they would want someone that was sexy and young looking.

Nope, they all wanted someone like Paula! I guess there is a market for us middle aged, curvy gals who can cook!! I was telling DH about it and told him he better be nice to me!

:rotfl: That's great! Men really do like that southern accent...at least that's what my Yankee DH told me. :rotfl:

I think the accent is genuine. She's a big ole' flirt so she's pouring it on think...I think that's what some people may find fake more than the accent.

I love Paula Dean. I used to watch her show everyday when I was pregnant with DD. I got totally addicted to watching her show, so much that I put her on in the recovery room after my c-section with DD. She was making something good, and I told DH to get a pen and write it down because it looked so good! The nurses were cracking up!

I love Paula Deen.:goodvibes

I've made several of her recipes and they've all been hits with my family. I love her rags to riches story.

She's done very well for herself and I respect that.:thumbsup2

I love Paula and my old assitant is the TN answer to Paula. She cooks, has the accent, flirts(everytime she is around Matt she pinches his butt:rotfl: ) and she is the most caring genuine person. Matt is convinced he now knows what I'm going to be in my older years..the arkansas version of Paula Dean.

Her son's are soooooo yummy. They talk just like their mother too if you really listen:dance3:

I love, love, LOVE Paula Deen.....and her hunky sons.:) Just the other day I made her shrimp and crab casserole...OMG....it was incredible. I must make another today....

I LOVE PAULA! There is just something so soothing and motherly about her! Her Sons aren't too bad either! LOL I just feel like I could go sit down in her kitchen and immediatley feel comfortable talking with and being around her! Paula Rocks!!!

I Saw her make the Shrimp w/ Wild Rice Casserole Recipe and it does look divine!

Count me and my family in as her BIGGEST FANS!! We love her!! I took her Savannah Bus Tour last year (dragging my teenaged son) and now HE loves her!!

During the tour we were treated to lunch at her brother, Bubba's, restaurant. If you think SHE'S fun, hang out with Bubba!! Michael and he became fast friends and they just laughed and joked and had the best time together.

I love her sons, too. I love the way they call each other "brother". So cute!

I love her food, too! She cooks, looks and acts just like my Mom and older sister! She feels like home!
