Anyone else like her recipes? I don't watch the show all the time, but I really like her recipes...southern girl at heart stuck in the middle of TX!

Anyway, I tried her recipe for Shrimp and Wild Rice Casserole tonight and it was out of this world. And really simple...I'll post it below in case anyone is interested.

Anyone else tried recipes of her's that were really good?

Shrimp and Wild Rice Casserole

1 (8-ounce) package wild rice
1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
1 (10 3/4-ounce can) condensed cream of mushroom soup
2 cups grated sharp Cheddar
Salt and pepper

Cook the rice according to package directions minus 1/4 cup water. Drain and cool.
Bring 2 cups water and 1/2 tablespoon salt to a boil in a medium saucepan and cook the shrimp for 1 minute. Drain immediately and set aside.

Heat the butter in saucepan and saute the pepper and onion until soft, about 5 minutes.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

In a large bowl, combine the rice, soup, 1 1/2 cups of cheese, shrimp and vegetables. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Mix well. Spray a 9-inch square aluminum cake pan or an 11 by 7-inch glass casserole dish with vegetable spray. Place the mixture in the pan and top with remaining 1/2 cup cheese. Bake for 30 minutes, until bubbly.

That sounds yummy! I am going to save it-thanks! :)

is she sexy

Oh yes, she loves to touch her food and always mentions how she would like to wrap her lips.....never mind.:lmao:

I love Paula - her recipe for Lady & Sons Fried Pork Chops is a family favorite. She is without a doubt my fave on the Food network.

She was on Oprah's show last week and was one of the funniest guests Oprah's ever had. She was hysterical!!:rotfl:

I love Paula Dean! I've tried a few of her recipes and they've always come out delicious!

I love Paula Dean! I made her tomato pie a few weekends ago when we have a family gathering. It was SO good and SO simple!

I like watching her show and seeing the dishes she makes, I've never made anything of hers yet. She seems to make alot of things that involve alot of butter and fat. Her desserts look really good too!

It is really yummy...I served it with a green salad and it was a perfect dinner.

. . . . .

Man, I wish I had seen her on Oprah. She is really funny. Her sons are funny too.

Her answer to her critics with regard to that is "I'm your cook, not your doctor".:rotfl:

Thanks! I just looked it up online, and it does look really good. (posting below) I'll have to send this to my mom...she grows a ton of tomatos every summer.

Tomato Pie

4 tomatoes, peeled and sliced
10 fresh basil leaves, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1 (9-inch) prebaked deep dish pie shell
1 cup grated mozzarella
1 cup grated cheddar
1 cup mayonnaise
Salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Place the tomatoes in a colander in the sink in 1 layer. Sprinkle with salt and allow to drain for 10 minutes.

Layer the tomato slices, basil, and onion in pie shell. Season with salt and pepper. Combine the grated cheeses and mayonnaise together. Spread mixture on top of the tomatoes and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.

To serve, cut into slices and serve warm.

My father use to date her! But he was (and still is) VERY CHEAP! He would never take her out for a dinner.

So one day she got fed up with him, and was quite hungry...So she decided to cook for herself!

...and as we say on the Disboards....The rest is History!

;)

The first time I made it I used the Pillsbury roll out crust, formed it into my pie pan, and forgot to bake it before adding the ingredients! The next time I used the prebaked pie shells like she suggested. It was good the first time, much better the second time. Now I'm craving it!

Amanda,

OT-Your pic of your beloved puppy really touched me, what a sweetie. I didn't even know her and I miss her. Bless her heart.:lovestruc

I love Paula. I haven't tried any of her recipes yet, but everything she makes looks so yummy. I'm going to have to try it soon.

She's so funny and she's such a flirt. :rotfl:

Paula Deen's cute. Her recipes are good, the ones I've tried.

But my mother is from Alabama and down there they don't say "y'all" every other sentence. Do they do that in Georgia or is she just doing up the Southern thing?

I won't vouch for everyone in Georgia but we do!

Oh..and I LOVE Paula y'all! ;)

Her Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake is to die for!

I can take her in small doses - I think she greatly over exagerates her accent and twang and it gets to be too much after awhile.

I do find her very funny, esp when she's interacting with an audience like during Paulas Party, and she was hilarious on Oprah.

Her recipes are delicious but VERY bad for you ;) Her corn casserole is nothing short of amazing but don't add up the fat grams or you won't enjoy a bite! I made it for 4 different pot lucks over Xmas and they were raved about.
