Pats vs. Steelers

Congratulations Steeler Fans. I'm still mourning my Pats loss, but I knew this season would have ups and downs once Brady went out and then the other injuries piled on. You simply can't turn the ball over 5 times and win. I'll credit the Steelers defense they are superb. I find it fascinating that other fans won't tip their hats when the shoe is on the other foot, but so be it.

I know The Pats are rule breakers right. Clearly they are the only ones who followed that practice despite all of the annecdotal evidence suggested by other retired great coaches. Not to mention this is a practice that is legal from the stands. No great advantage can be obtained. All teams try to steal signals that is why coaching personnel put into place so many tactics to avoid it such as changing signals and covering their mouths with clipboards. Plenty of winning teams have broken rules. Denver was out of complience with salary cap issues during one of their Super Bowl wins. Truth be told most football fans would be happy to have Bill on their side, (Despite tonights horrid loss).

When no other team has been caught doing the same thing the Pats have done you can't say every team does it. Its a stupid cop out by the Pat fans. Thats why no one is gracious to Pats fans because Pats fans can accept the fact that their team got caught cheating. You just try to justify it.
I can kill someone as can anyone else so if I get caught killing someone should I be allowed to just walk free?

I said that plenty of retired coaches have stated that this is a practice that many teams have engaged in. Just because they weren't caught doesn't mean it didn't happen. So, if a murder was to be committed but the offender was not caught does that then mean the murder did not occur. I will take my lumps as a Patriots fan. I certainly didn't say that what we were caught with wasn't against the rules. I simply stated that their are plenty of teams who break rules. Most coaches don't snark on others, but you can't seriously beleive that the PATS are the only evil doers in an entire league. We were caught and paid our dues. We lost a first round draft pick. I'd venture to say that is quite a loss to most teams.

If you want to think that all of the Patriot's success is due to trying to signal steal so be it. Maybe I want to think that some teams' success are due purely to players using enhancement performance drugs or "tweaking" salary cap numbers, or stealing playbooks (which has been reported) but I think most of that stuff has, unfortunately, been part of the game (widespread) for a long time.

I love football and good rivalries in general. I have been a bitter sox fan and Yankee hater, but as a sports fan I try to remain objective and give credit where credit is due even if that means a nod to the Yankees or the Steelers, Colts, Jets etc. We were outplayed tonight. There have been many nights when the Steelers were outplayed by the Patriots. When you are man handled in the trenches you generally lose.

I can say I flew to the moon on a pancake doesn't make it true. You are proving my point. You can not just accept the fact that the Pats have been caught cheating. You have to try to explain it away by saying others do it to. Billicheck knew it was illegal when he was doing it, there was no clear definition when Jimmy Johnson did it.
Losing 1 pick out of 2 isn't a penalty at all. It wasn't even the better of the 2 picks that was taken away. Then all the tapes are destroyed before anyone else has a chance to view them and Billicheck is awarded coach of the year. Oh yeah big time punishment for them.

I absolutely stated that we were caught breaking a rule. I simply do not see the justification for such outrage over the breaking this one rule when clearly teams and players break many rules that could suggestively be conceived as cheating. The media ate this story up. I don't blame them it's a great story. Bill is not a lovable character, particularly towards the media. As I stated many coaches and players have stated that these tactics occur often and throughout the league.

I don't think I am stating something so outragous as a pancake saucer floating through space, but we will never agree. Which rules broken constitute cheating? When 5 players from a squad are caught taking performance hancing drugs is that cheating? When a team purposfully goes over the salary cap is that cheating? Yup the Patriots organization got caught breaking a rule and were punished. You may not like the punishment; I wasn't too happy with no punishment for the Broncos. They were able to hold onto Elway and Terrell Davis. Still they played fantastic football. Their offensive line was undeniably superb.

You are alloted one 1st draft pick a year. The Patriots traded for a second first round pick. That pick was bargained for with another team. The league took what they alot to the team.
