Pats Fans Only

First the Pats players were never pompous, they never made predictions...

Every time I read something to the effect of how "pompous" the Pats were all season, I feel like I must be living in the Twilight Zone. I don't recall one occurance of this ever taking place.

I think some poeple are confusing TV commentators for Patriot employees or players.

Second of all, they might have TRIED to copyright that phrase, but they were too late, a fan of one of the teams actually got to it first... so there ya have it, they weren't quick enough to even get the copyright...

The fact that they would even do it before they won the game shows the pompous attitude.

Stomp was a song from the 70's and as I see on UTUBE was in the football movie "The Longest Yard"

Saying the Giants stomped you out(which they did) really doesn't compare to the year long pompous nature of the Pat's. Come on now Copyrighting the phrase 19-0! Don't count those chickens comes to mind.

I am proud of the determination the Giants showed. And with Heart anything is possible. That is a lesson I am proud to teach my children!

Oh and do you really think a Pat's fan would have enjoyed that parade anyway? No big surprise to hear the complaining.

Show me where any of the Pats were pompous. I want to see a clip.

Boom - I agree. I'd like for someone to show me a clip of any of the Pats players being pompous after a game. I've never seen it. Even Randy Moss had nothing but kind things to say after the Superbowl.

It was great!!!! Strahan was at the podium and when he talked about 'stomping' the Pats, he and his teammates jumped in unison. He's such a great guy. When my son was at the Pro Bowl the year the Panthers were coaching the game, he told Strahan that his Dad is a huge Giants fan. Later on he brought DS a ball signed by him and the other Giants at that game to give to DH.

This is one classless and juvenile New Yorker who saw 'the stomp' and thinks it was priceless. :teeth: :dance3:

You're not the only classless & juvenile NYer who loved it!

I think that's splitting hairs. They wanted to copyright it, right? and they failed. So maybe the football gods were looking out for them. ;)

I'm from Jersey and don't think the Giants were classless in their celebration. A little dance and cheer are not classless. Anyone remember the Super Bowl Shuffle?

As for the Pats being cocky. Of course they were. The team was 18-0 and 12 point favorites. Brady laughing off Plax's prediction of "only" 17 points for the Pats was cocky.

Even now, the Giants are the champs and some are still talking about how the Pats lost the game. Maybe we should be talking about how the Giants won the game.

Every player on every pro team in every sport and even amateur and school players are cocky. That's the way. Do you expect them to predict a loss and then hang their head when they win?

There was no name calling. There was nothing rude. Unless I missed something?

I watched the youtube vid. They never said "Stomp the Pats" specifically unless it was edited from that clip. Just that they stomped all the teams and particularly the last one they beat (although I wouldn't call a 3-point win a 'stomp').

I'm not a fan of the Giants since they beat Da Boyz. But I saw nothing wrong with their celebration.....:confused3

Don't know about the Patriots themselves - I'm not in new England. But the Patriots fans were certainly approaching that all season. It is for no other reason than that that the reaction is what it is.

I love the Pats, Sox, Celts and Bruins.
But I do remember this:

And this:

And while part of me cringed when I saw signs like that, I did laugh.
Now it's our turn to sit back and take it.
Ah well.

Great post.

I'm honestly searching the web for the Pats being pompous after a game. I can't seem to find one.

As for teams being celebratory during a game, ALL PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS have done it after they score. I'm specifically asking if the Pats were pompous after a game.

Oh, and by the way I never called the "NY Giants" classless or juvenile. I said the actions were (and I still stand by it). I do recall on one of the threads on this board Giants fans calling us classless though. Something to the effect of "Belicheck is the most classless coach in professional football." Probably not verbatim, but something to that effect.

Oh, and The Superbowl Shuffle was ridiculous and stupid.

Hey, didn't this thread title say Pats Fans Only?

You are a class act. Like almost every Pats fan. :thumbsup2

Yikes, good thing I'm a Pats fan. I know, I can't get into baseball. The horror.

I can't believe how people don't get the facts straight. Brady never said that Burriss shouldn't think the Giants should win, he joked that if he's going to say they are going to win predict the score as Giants 45 Pats 42 instead of 23-17 giving credit to the Pats offense then he laughed.

I've talked to plenty of fans of different teams and most say the Pats are still the best team in football but not for that day, just like the Rams were the best team in football in 2001 but for 1 day the Pats were better.

On ESPN radio last night some football expert who's name I didn't get said the Giants are a 1 hit wonder, they wouldn't even make the Super Bowl next year, and that the odds are already out for next years winner and the Pats are the favorites.

The stomp is what the Giants defense does in their "family circle" before every game. Strahan didn't solely target the Patriots as a "stomp" - he was talking about the family circle, what happens in the circle, including the fans in that circle and discussing how the Giants won 11 games on the road. The "stomp" is a rallying the troops sort of thing and bringing the defense together. I don't think "stomping" is meant to refer to beating a team by a large number of points. The team feels vindicated b/c they were underestimated (especially by the media) and they showed they had the heart and talent to win.

Sorry. That part I have to disagree with. They progressed from a wildcard spot so they hit more then once. :guilty:

Shocking since the media never gave the Giants a chance this year that they are already talking trash about next season.

I'm a Steeler fan but the rest of the family are Giants fans and I'll root for them, too. Pats fans, please get over it, you lost, maybe the Giants won't make it next year but maybe the Pats won't either, all odds said they'd win this year and they didn't! The Giants were having fun yesterday, so what.
