PAT with DCL transfer?

My check-in day is approaching and I'll be taking a DCL transfer from the airport to the ship. Will I need to select a PAT?

Someone posted recently that guests taking DCL transfers from the airport DO select a PAT. Those taking transfers from a WDW resort or the MCO Hyatt do not select a PAT.

In Canada when I put in we were an airport pickup, we had to select a PAT. When I called to tell them we were actually in the hotel in the airport, they assigned us a PAT (which was much earlier than I could select).

I can see why at the airport, but I don't understand why not at MCO Hyatt.

Is it because if just doing the airport they want some idea of when people are arriving in order to put on enough transport whereas if coming from the hotel they know you are there at the time they are running the transport?

That's my thought as well. Because from resorts (and Hyatt) there is only the 1 option and Disney is controlling the schedule for that. So they know when you'll arrive. Transfers from MCO are first-come first-served.

When I last used the transfer service from the Hyatt (October 2021), there were at least two buses at different times. Disney didn't tell us which one we had to be on or anything like that. I think that if we had missed the Hyatt-exclusive buses, they would have brought us down to the regular MCO->PC buses.

We took transfers from MCO and had to pick a PAT. When we checked in at the airport, no one asked us what our time was. We got there over an hour before our PAT and were able to get on the next available bus. I had called DCL a month before our cruise and asked about picking a PAT when using MCO transfers. I was told their system is set up to make everyone pick a time, but that they don't care when you show up.

Yeah, the system is wonky. When I did a back-to-back cruise in February, the system made us choose a PAT for the second cruise!

The Hyatt is at MCO, right? They take a different bus from the ones arriving at the airport?
