I so needed to subscribe to this thread - I don't drink and love the idea of desserts around the world! Plus I want to learn of all the great spots before our next trip and figuring subscribing is the best way not to forget about them!

Quick question on the school bread - is that coconut like someone suggested? If so I might have to find a different dessert to share with DH since he won't eat coconut. TIA

I was going to take a stab in the dark with what it was, but I've never had one and all I could gather was the coconut part

I thought I'd better leave that one up to someone who knows, NOW that someone told us, I want one even more now b/c I LOVE coconut boston cream donuts!!!

I told him my plan!! He think's I'm off my head until I told him I would half everything with him!! If I can't find a pastry in Japan, I've read about a "Candy lady" who makes candy animals...I just might have to get one of those instead.

Yes, there is a candy lady. I see people eat her creations. But, I dont allow my children to. I keep them for display purposes only. I dont think it would be something to really eat as a snack. I have seen people eat them. But, I wont.

Schoolbread looks like a boston cream donut. The dough is not sweet, it's more of a bread-type dough. The sweetness comes from the custard cream inside and the toasted coconut frosting on top.

The Kringla Sweet Almond Pretzel is basically the same bread-type dough as the Schoolbread, only shaped into a preztel with a sugar-glaze to hold the almonds on top. This is my favorite. I used to love the schoolbread but now that they've changed it (it's smaller and the topping has changed) I go for the kringla. The also have the Kringla without almonds.

My favorite drink at Disney World, a bit expensive but that's ok.

I also really like the Italian Margarita.


I love the pastries around the world idea, I think I'll do a combo of pastries and drinking next time. Might be a bit expensive though.
