Pastries from around the World (Showcase, that is)??

Sweet! Thanks for the Churros suggestion!! The people at MouseGears are going to think I'm crazy leaving with 11 bags!! I'll have to buy something (I'm sure that won't be difficult)

That store is always so busy no one will notice or care! :rotfl: Please don't feel any pressure to purchase anything. You'll be purchasing snacks to put into the bags! :rotfl2:

I'm going to post a list of all of the treats I'm going to buy at each pavilion (and take pics of course!!)
Three weeks from today I'll be on a plane to DISNEY

Please take photos and report back with a snack report!! Make sure to take photos of the menus, the kiosks, the bakeries. Pretend your our roving pastry reporter! :yay:

Epcot offers so many good snacks there's no way you can eat them all in one trip and NOT get sick.

Oh, I am SOOOO up for this challenge! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

AND, I feel a new section in my scrapbook coming...Desserts Around the World (Showcase). Thank you so much for the idea!

There's a store in DTD Marketplace called something like the Disney Gourmet Kitchen? They sell mickey cookie cutters, some baking supplies and stuff.

I've noticed that there merchandise is NEVER all in one place. Keep your eyes open in the parks. In DHS, The Writer's Shop (where you can pick up the Carrot Cake Cookie and a good latte) has some kitchen wares, so does the store near the Haunted Mansion in MK, just across from Columbia Harbor House.

Also check in Mousegears and WoD. You just never know what you'll find.

Oh, I've even found stuff at the resorts. I found nice xmas dishtowels at the CR gift shop that I never saw anywhere else.

That's one thing that annoys me about WDW, you have to buy something when you see it, you might never see it again!

Have fun shopping and eating! :)

We haven't discussed The Writer's Shop at DHS here. I discovered this little bake shop/reading nook/housewares store this last trip. DH and DS5 went to see the stunt show so I wandered in to have a latte and flip thru some books while DS2 napped. AFTERwards, I discover they're famous for their carrot cake cookie! Two carrot cake soft cookies with cream cheese frosting in the middle. Now I have to go back for one! I love carrot cake!!

They're also the only place that I've seen to have the Mickey Shortbread cookies with the chocolate ears.

Here's some photos from The Writer's Shop from another poster MickeyNicki:

Jen, it's a little hidden out of the way place. I literally stumbled upon it. I left the guys off in front of the stunt show then headed down streets of NY. It was at the end of the street to the left, before Sci-Fi Cafe. The funny thing is, we had lunch at the Sci-Fi Cafe, and I didn't notice it. It's easy to pass it up and think it's one of the facades on the streets of NY.

I have to tell you, it was a great find! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about all the treats you discover!

Darn, I read about the carrot cake cookies before our trip last month and then completely forgot about them while we were there :sad2:

I'll have to try to remember about them in October when we go back.:)

So the Writers Shop is one of the best kept secrets in Hollywood. My hubby and I ALWAYS stop there for a coffee and some breakfast treats! I like either a bagel and cream cheese (gets me nice and full) or a blueberry muffin. Its also a nice place to just relax for a little while, but it can be a challenge to find a spot. But if you do they are comfy!!!!

Oh - as the name suggests, it is also a good place to find Disney books and DVDs! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

I have to say I was disappointed with my chocolate chip cookie from there: dry and crisp...but I like my cookies chewy.

But those strawberry muffins look devine! popcorn::

Thanks!! The last time I was at DHS we kinda rushed through everything and I wandered off from my group TWICE. So I managed to see some things!! This timw will be different. I'm going to uncover every inch of the park

Sorry to be repetitive, but another vote for France here!:thumbsup2

another goodie at Kringla/Norway is the sweet almond pretzel...we like the school bread, but we loved the almond pretzel!

Everyone keeps talking about how good the school bread is. Can someone please tell me what school bread is?

Yes, but what IS it? Bread, Cake, Cream-filled, what? :) Inquiring minds want to know!

Correct me if I'm wrong, please. But I think this is school bread. You can find it in Norway.

Yep, that's school bread :thumbsup2

The way I would describe school bread is that it's similar to a Boston Cream doughnut. It's more "bread"y than "doughnut"y but leaning towards the sweetness of doughnut with a custardy type filling.

Hope that helps a little :goodvibes

we stopped in ffrane and got the choc. mousse...it was great!

in norway we stopped again and i just KNEW that i had to get school bread from the things that were said on here and allears...so glad i did. DS got a rolled up thing(forgot what it was) he didnt muchcare for it though...so...DS took over the chocolate cake that DH got.

as you can see DS was really enjoying it. Poor DH didnt stand a chance!!

I so needed to subscribe to this thread - I don't drink and love the idea of desserts around the world! Plus I want to learn of all the great spots before our next trip and figuring subscribing is the best way not to forget about them!

Quick question on the school bread - is that coconut like someone suggested? If so I might have to find a different dessert to share with DH since he won't eat coconut. TIA
