Someone just told me that you need 12 months on a UK passport to enter the USA. Is this true?

Panic if it is *** I go next week and I only have 11 months!!!!!

Thats not true, generally as long as theyre valid for your trip youre fine.
I think 1 or 2 airlines suggest you have at least 6 months but thats the maximum ive heard. who are you flying with?

youll be fine :goodvibes

It only has to be valid for the length of your stay although some airlines insist on 6 month validity. I've not heard of anyone being asked for 12 months validity before.

Thank you so much guys.

I had always understood it to be 6 months but a travel agent had told my friend it was 6 months and as she only tild me today... I panicked:scared1:

If you are travelling under the Visa Waiver program the US C & BP only require your passport to be valid for the duration of your stay. Link here
Both Virgin and BA stick to this requirement.
If flying with another airline they could insist on 6 months even though it is not a US immigration requirement.
6 months is the maximum, someone is wrong telling you 12 months.

Thank you hank you so much. You know what it's like...you think you know something and then someone says someone different and you start to doubt yourself. But thatnk you *** I'm working al week and leave on Tuesday with no time to renew my passport
