Passports required to fly ?

Just as a side note, I'd strongly encourage everyone to go ahead and get a passport, even if you don't plan on traveling outside the US. For two reasons. First, you never know when you are going to win that all expense paid trip to EDL. Second, having that extra piece of ID comes in really handy when you lose all your other ID. With all the new security and privacy rules in place, getting replacement ID without ID can sometimes be a giant PITA.

Yeah, it's $100. But think of it as great insurance that only costs $10/year.

The Federal Government is trying to require that the states follow specific security procedures with regards to photo licenses to make them harder to forge. Some states, I think NH, don't want to pay for the expense. There as been some speculation that the Federal Government is considering, if they lose, not accepting licenses from those states as valid government issued photo ID. Residents of those states would have to use a passport for photo ID.

I don't see any way this would happen but that's what some articles are referring to.

My driver's license is purply with other pretty colours, and has holograms embedded into it. I've had it for years; whenever I check into a WDW resort the desk clerk spends a minute or two playing with it - 'oooh, pretty! shiny!'' :teeth: Pretty simple security measure, and it doubles as a toy for some.
